Obscure “hair band” that is actually a good rock band? One of the ones I’m thinking of…

Stellar call but I'm extremely biased ... Scott Dalhover's signature pickup pickup is a Carondelet Turbobucker.

Here's that pickup in action ...

Dangerous Toys & "Tin Boots" live in Austin Aug 2003

Excellent call on TNT as well - one of my all time favorite melodic rock bands.

Dangerous Toys is playing a show in Dallas next month at the Granada opening for Armoured Saint. I’m thinking about going to this.

I'm not sure what you actually mean. Basically all the hair bands could play - are you talking about technical expertise?

The men are separated from the boys on songwriting - and Dangerous Toys does NOT pass the test.

I'm not sure there were any "obscure" hair acts that had really good songwriting that somehow went unnoticed.

Stone Fury. One album, but then Lenny Wolf went on to front Kingdom Come

They're not obscure, but they are a great rock band that gets unfairly lumped in with hair metal:

Tesla.

Disagree with you. Roxx Gang was most definitely a band that got a little notoriety back in the day, yet they were pretty terrible. They had “the look” though.

Firehouse was another one that quickly came to mind. I definitely thought they were legit.

I wouldn’t classify Great White as obscure.

Never heard Stone Fury’s album, but love Lenny and Kingdom Come, so I’ll definitely check that out. Thanks!

Prob not obscure, but I think most folks know them more due to Vince Neil killing their drummer in a car wreck... Hanoi Rocks..

They were a huge influence on that whole 80s LA scene...

Agree. Saw them open for Def Leppard back in the day and they were awesome. Queensryche was the 2nd opener of that show and they were amazing as well. Honestly, I enjoyed both of those bands’ live performance more than DL.

Tesla has never fit any mold. They weren’t glam enough to be a hair band, weren't grungy enough to be a grunge band, and weren’t fast enough to be a metal band. Thank god for those three because they are a great rock band and at least for me the best.
