Don't cluster headaches come in waves? Usually lasting about 30 minutes at a time?

Disagree. Opiates have no role in the treatment of primary headaches (cluster, migraine, tension).

Hopefully not the beginning stages of Bell's palsy or als. Have you felt any unusual sensations or nothing at all?

I thought OP said he/she just had a CT. I may have missed where he talked about an MRI.

interesting. you should tell some docs this. seriously. I know a lady who gets migraines and she gets exactly this treatment. I have also seen the opiate cocktail with benadryl. your theories seem like they work better.

Anisocoria. I have it too and went as far down the line of specialists as a neuro-ophthalmologist

yup. This is likely where his course will lead. May include an eventual MRI, or angiogram if the headache persists.

But really they gave some shitty medicine for a headache. Should have either gotten ketorlac/benadryl/compazine, fioricet, or something else. vicodin is pretty shitty for headache purposes.

I would definitely get a cat scan. A friend's mom started getting migraines out of the blue and kept putting it off. She ended up having an aneurysm and dying. Scary shite.

Yea, it happens all the time, but it's definitely not recommended in any guidelines i've ever read. In fact, there studies show worse outcomes (more frequent ER visits, worse control of headache) in patients treated with opiates as first-line therapy.

The most important thing is ruling out a secondary cause if there are any alarm symptoms, then making the right diagnosis based on history. The treatments are pretty straightforward.

I've had migraines since 7th grade and no doctor knows why. I take imatrex and tramadol to combat them. I only get maybe 3 per year the past 4 years.

Have your doctors tried a prophylactic med for migraines, like topamax or inderal? It may not be worth it for 3 attacks/year though.

tramadol

I can't believe they made tramadol a controlled substance now. They used to say it was non-addictive, now it all of a sudden is.

From what I read its usually caused by tumors, blood clots, stroke or severe head injury. I know it can't be that since the scan came back normal.

Get your affairs in order.

Neurosurgeon for you first.

Optometrist is an underbid. You want Opthamologist.

Imatrex is the first migraine meds they have tried with me. I tell them it does the trick, so I guess they don't see a point in changing it. What are the meds topamax and inderal like?

For some it has the same effects as a narcotic on them.

I was prescribed tramadol for some lower back issues. Doctor prescribed it to me cause it wasn't a narcotic and she said I could take it at work. No way I could do that. Stuff worked great for my pain....but made me feel high when I took it. I felt great ain't gonna lie, all talkative, had that itchy all over feeling you have on narcotics. I could see how to some that would be enticing to take on a recreational basis.

And Trams are child's play. I use to just leave my script of 90 at the pharmacy. Wasn't worth the $4 to pick it up

An optometrist would not be able to help you - you're looking for an ophthalmologist.

I believe migraines can cause anisocoria (unequal pupils), but don't quote me on that. Sounds like they ruled out a mass. Good luck. I'd be really scared if I had those symptoms.

Did they check the pressure in your eyes? Could be an angle closure. Is that lid drooping at all compared to the other?
