While I get where you’re going with this, you obviously have been blessed to be ignorant to what many people face every minute of every day.
Maybe sitting in the waiting room of an adolescent OTs office that specializes in neurological disorders for an hour might enlighten you......

I think giving candy to anyone who asks for it and is costumed is fun. Don’t care if they’re five, fifteen, fifty or eight five.
Trick or treating is a great tradition that is good for a neighborhood. I mourn how it is becoming a lost tradition due to fear.

was until it went viral, now everyone will.have a blue bucket trying to score candy...
I’m not sure that you’ll see adults dressing up as autistic
Maybe a jerk teen every couple of zip codes does it as a joke but even that doesn’t play well

I know a teal pumpkin at a house means they have options for kids with allergies. When my ex-wife and I had trick or treaters, we had two buckets of stuff for kids: an orange bucket with candy to giveaway and a teal bucket with little toys luke old happy meal toys.

It's all a front. Blue Buckets are gang initiations and if you place candy in your bucket they will come back to murder you

of course you have some sort of absurd objection to Halloween because your such a manly man
I'm waiting for the picture of a depression era family working a field and you asking us if we think they had time to celebrate all hallows eve

Anyone who shows up on my porch with a blue bucket ain't getting candy, they're getting two rounds center of mass.
No Bushwick Bill motherfricker's gonna get the drop on me.

Never heard of that but I have a family in my neighborhood that lets their autistic adult trick or treat.
They seem to have fun and I buy enough candy for all.

Where did you gather that? I enjoy Halloween. I think it’s great for kids and adults. It’s good clean fun.
What I don’t like is the Karen’s and Kibbles of the world thinking they are the arbiters of behavior.

What I do object to is Karen thinking a blue pumpkin absolves her special snowflake from the expectations of normal adult behavior. Or gives some special privilege, or obligates me to doing anything other than what I damn well please. I am the candy keeper, and will dole it out as I see fit.
It appears the original mom just wanted to let her neighborhood know that BJ was a man-sized child so people wouldn't see him in a costume acting autistic and be alarmed. The autism does absolve him from normal adult behavior since is by no choice of his own is not a normal adult.
I know you are the king of the moderated and certainly not pithy hot take but in this case, I just think the mom was passing on a useful bit of information to her neighborhood to help ensure everyone knew what was going on and to avoid her son having a bad time which some autistic people can't simply brush off. This is a case where you just want to be outraged in your non-outrageous manner.
