It's all about preference... There are millions of men who love penis. I personally love tits and vagina, and rather go to exotic beaches.
To each their own.

Well, I know people who vacation in San Destin and then have trouble paying their routine expenses.
There are a lot of well to do families down there, but there are also a lot of posers inspired by instagram.

maybe its just me, but bringing your kid to 30a isnt a culture of excess
In isolation sure. I'm talking about our social inclinations at large. Most of my office is gone this week. It feels like 75% of my neighborhood is empty. I just think it's a shift to where there is no longer this idea of "when I get to this point we can do _______" and instead people just make it work, consequences be damned.
Maybe that sounds like gatekeeping but I don't really mean it that way. It's more a social observation than it is condemnation. I do think there are negative impacts, obviously, but it's probably not without some merit too.
I'll say that as I've gotten older (and especially pre-kids) the ability to travel and only stay at a certain class of hotel and only eat at this level of restaurant, etc. soured me on other stuff. Not everyone will be wired like that, but many will. And I think setting a pretty high standard for middle class kids for vacation or vehicles or weddings or whatever is going to be interesting from a sociological perspective as generations age. Anyway, that's the end of my tangent about it.

One thing for certain, they love to accounce their 30A visit with decals on the rear of their car.
99% of people who own there or visit regularly do NOT do this

i guess i dont get your point. im only 41 and sure we only wne to destin once growing up and most of our vacations were to astroworld for the day despite being upper middle class. I dont think taking more family vacations growing up would have hurt my upbringing thats for sure.
if most in your office can afford it, dont see the bid deal thats for sure.

I’m in Seacrest right now. Lots of kids. They are obnoxious. But honestly, outside of the large crowds they are fairly well behaved. They make it hard to access the beach and it has been double red flags the last several days so they are congregating on the roadways. Annoying but they are not being destructive. And the cops break it up pretty quick.

Define afford I guess, but that's a different can of worms.
Succinctly, I think we've already got motivation issues with the current and future generations. Growing up, I got the sense we wanted to build on our parents successes to achieve the things a little beyond our reach. We had a pleasant and comfortable upbringing so we got a taste, but we wanted more than that.
I'm just not sure what kids today are going to be striving for. Their parents are often already professionals. They're already educated. They already travel. Many get nice cars early and middle class families have many of the same material things as upper class families. Maybe that's just societal progress, but I think the concept of exceeding your parents and grandparents and their successes is better motivation than simply living up to and matching those standards.

When you see a condo with 12-15 people staying in it, it’s a sign

I say this as someone who used to hate all-inclusive resorts....from Atlanta (even from NO if timed right) I can have a drink at an AI in the Carribean within 6 hours of leaving my house which is about the fastest you can make it to 30A from Atlanta or NOLA with the obligatory Buckee's stop. Cost is often cheaper and packing/prep is easier, just have to be willing to fly.
In a perfect world I would never visit a gulf coast beach during spring break season and from mid-June through Labor Day again.
