According to the local authorities, the "Atlanta" spring break is the worst of the year. April 8th can't come soon enough.

WTF are you talking about?

My parents had a beach house in Orange Beach on a teachers salary when I was growing up. They bought it in 1986.

I think he has a point. In the 80s and 90s going on beach trips for Spring Break may not have even been the norm for most suburban families, much less regular upper middle suburbanite families spending 7-10k+ to do so at 30A in their 100k Yukon as a starting point.

It's the same as "normal" dudes buying 2ct engagement rings and normal couples having 75k weddings and so on and so forth. Redneck teachers have 1500 dollar purses.

It's a culture of excess and Spring Break is one of the times when I'm most reminded of it, TBH

Will never get this forum’s fascination with this place and calling it “30A” as if they’ve unlocked some secret society level of cool

30A has been in common usage for well over two decades and is much easier than referring to the various communities on...30A

They were roaming in packs of 100+ people destroying stuff in Rosemary last year.
Then arrest them. Send enough of those idiots back home with stories about how they spent part of their spring break in jail and now have to go back to Florida to face a few felony charges for criminal mischief and vandalism and make an example of them.

No one wants to rent a $10-15k/ week house next to a kegger or deal with that mess when they’re out having a nice dinner.
Agreed. But its also kind of dumb to rent a beach house during spring break in a place that's a well known spring break destination and not expect to see and hear loud/drunk teenagers.

If you were trying to have a quiet, relaxing weekend in New Orleans you wouldn't book your trip during Mardi Gras.

39a is a shithole.. don’t understand why anyone would want to spend a fricking week there. I lived there for many years and absolutely hated that place with a passion

Assuming you meant 30a… it is a nice place, physically beautiful.. it’s just the trashy people who frequent the area that make it insufferable .

We typically go in early/mid August when school is back in session over there though. Little to no crowds.

Exactly! You don't go during spring break unless you just wanna hang out with a bunch of college kids.

It’s the most suburban ghetto wantabes I’ve seen in a long time. I kept looking out for B-Rad and his Malibu crew when I was trying to get my ice cream. And apparently it’s Atlanta spring break iykyk. It’s turning into PCB here you and your kids need to stay away.

Numbers. It's a large population heading to the beach.

The entire panhandle of Florida is like this, with the trashy people mostly coming in from Louisiana and Mississippi.

My buddy's address is actually PSJ, he claims Mexico Beach. He's right on the edge of MB. Great place, I'd live to love there.

There's an AF training site between Tyndall and MB (I'm assuming it was built back), we had some good times at whatever the name of that beach bar was (the bar didn't make it through the last hurricane)

ETA - Toucan's was the name of the bar.

I think you are onto something. My granfather had a college degree and a white collar job and he never took his kids anywhere like Florida when they were under 15 years old.

I also have a number of relatives who died over the last 20 years with hundreds of thousands to 7 figures in the bank even though they never had high paying jobs. Most of them were super frugal and didn't do hardly any real traveling till after age 65.

Now a days I know people going to San Destin and just charging it to the card.

Could be because of all the 30A stickers people like to show off.

Yeah Toucan’s was great. Shell Island is the place to be if you like isolated beaches
