May & September are my favorite times of the year to go to 30a . Kids are in school and the weather is perfect

I think it’s more local kids, or kids from the area, that cause shite.

Those 50ft-wide beaches will fill up quick.

WTF are you talking about?
My parents had a beach house in Orange Beach on a teachers salary when I was growing up. They bought it in 1986.

Super smart.
I was in Mexico Beach right after the housing crash of 07/08, tons of for sale signs everywhere. I kick myself for not buying.

Ugh no. Definitely not.
It’s just spring break, a ton of kids from the same area that know each other are off together. Surprise surprise they hang out.
My wife has a younger step brother and he used to really like going to 30a because he had a bunch of friends down there and they’d all ride their bikes to meet up.
I’m not sure why this is upsetting to everyone.

A lot of kids have grown up there and are now choosing to go with their college buddies on spring break without parents. I've noticed that trend the last few time.
I just got back from the Seagrove area just east of The Big Chill. Several of the groups at the beach all week were just college kids. They never bothered anyone and the girls were not bad to look at too.
30A is not getting the Panama City Beach crowd and it looks like from the article that is essentially what the communities goal is with increased patrols.

Get off the beach!
Instead, run up and down CR30A, play chicken with vehicles on the road, trespass into neighborhoods, and generally cause mayhem.
Or, better yet, steal some e-bikes and do the same at 20mph. So fun!
Please note, this is the last week of spring break and the first week to have this implemented.

I grew up in PSJ until we moved into PC for HS.
Mexico Beach/PSJ/Cape San Blas are hidden gems.

First off it’s Atlanta spring break weekend so there are ton of people on vacation right now.
Next week would be a totally different story for people.
I mean it’s an actual road.
Would you rather describe it as the area south of HWY98 between Miramar Beach and Bay County?
You can either name all beaches from Inlet to Dune Allen or you could just say 30A.
If you want to take fault with the people who drive down from the Atlanta and Nashville suburbs that’s your deal but let’s not mess up a descriptor because of people who irritate you.

We typically go in early/mid August when school is back in session over there though. Little to no crowds.
We always went in may before school let out but then kids got older and started school so we found somewhere else to go
ETA: even up to 3rd grade they can miss a week and it’s not a big deal

Yeah, it was cool. We would spend 3-5 months in total living down there each year until I was 18. My first job was hanging flyers for coastal video for $50 a week and any 3 movies or video games I wanted.
We moved around a lot when I was a kid because my Dad was a coach and you were pretty much guaranteed a change of venue every four years.
The beach house was the only place that didn't change for me. Same town. Same friends.

One of my kids just got back from Pensacola Beach for their high school Sr. spring break.
The police def. made it clear that these kids aren't welcome there. They were super aggressive with driving around the houses and even out on foot with flashlights ready to pounce if they suspected any underage drinking.
The kids knew it was going to be like that and I guess most still had fun.

everyone calls it that.
I understand the argument that going there can be douchey - although it doesn't stop me from letting my wife drag us there on occasion.
I don't understand what would possibly be the NON-douchey thing to call it though.

It’s all Santa Rosa beach. That’s the currently accepted name for the area.

Nah, too many people confuse that with Santa Rosa Island, which is Pensacola/Navarre Beach - and which are perfectly nice places in their own right.
