You cannot control the outcome of your previous relationship. No need for you to bad mouth your ex in front of them. They will always remember if you did that. Keep yalls former relationship out of it and be as present as you can. They will grow to understand but at that age they don't.

Genuinely good, mature people should be able to do what is necessary to avoid constantly fighting.
IMO good, mature people who are constantly grinding each other's gears are probably emotionally invested in one another, and all the more reason to work that out instead of bailing.

Am a product of a toxic divorce. Love both of my parents but definitely hold a grudge against my mom and how she went about things.
It definitely screwed me up in terms of relationships. Watching how fricked over my dad got financially out of spite had made me never want to get married.
Aside from that I’m fine. Have a decent job, graduated college, etc…

You're the parent of two young children and going through a difficult divorce as a result of which your children are having difficulties. You just joined TD last month and selected the name "cannibuspleasse" and called your ex a "whore mother" on social media.
I have to wonder how you could have thought that was cute, cool or a good idea in any way.
I suggest you make a special request to the admins that your name be changed and this thread be deleted. In fact, deleting your account is probably a good idea.
As far as parenting, you've gotten good advice. Hopefully, you can follow some of it for the sake of the kids.
