Most children’s hospitals follow the COG (children’s oncology group) protocol for cancer treatment. I wouldn’t feel the need to travel across the country unless there was a clinical trial that you need to enroll in (which is not usually done in the beginning), or a need to see a specialized surgeon (typically only in solid tumors, not leukemia/lymphoma). Everyone touts St. Jude’s, but I would also look into CHOP (Philadelphia), Boston Children’s Hospital, or Memorial Sloan Kettering (NYC) for another opinion if the initial COG protocol is not effective.

We found out on Friday that she has been diagnosed with AML, a form of leukemia.
You have all the prayers you can get coming from me this evening and beyond. My dad is a survivor of AML - diagnosed almost five years to the day ago. It is the scariest thing imaginable to hear that, believe me, we went through it. But he's still with us and I have no doubt that your daughter can pull through!
Look into Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. They have one of the best AML treatment centers in the country. That's where my dad was treated.

Two downvotes will burn in hell, hopefully
Some folks don’t realize that all registered posters can change their vote by simply refreshing the screen and “revoting” the opposite opinion.

Prayers for your sweet little one and your entire family.
Would love to know who the low life, pathetic pieces of shite losers it is who downvoted this. Those downvotes happened before the first page was complete and yet 4 pages in, whoever those cowards are have failed to reply and offer why they would have downvoted this. To whoever it is, if it's because you aren't religious and have issues with someone asking for prayers; just move on to another thread. No need to click the downvote. If you have a true beef with the thought of someone requesting the prayers, out yourself so we can all invite you to a Sonic and check your knuckles.
ETA: changed 3 pages in to 4 pages in. When I started typing we were on page 3.

Prayers for your daughter. Going to be a long road. Also, don't know if you in BR, but just replying to the information regarding needing to go elsewhere. He probably is not aware there is a St. Jude Affiliate clinic at OLOL Children's - will get some therapies at St. Jude in Memphis if that is the route you go and then able to continue therapies and follow up closer to home. Nothing against Vandy (I trained there in pediatrics and also fellowship there in a peds specialty (not oncology) and I have friends who are peds oncologists at UAB. Great places, just no need to live in another state longer than you need. Seek as much information as you can, but you can feel good about the resources here.
ETA, also agree with the treatment for childhood cancer is very protocolized and based on diagnosis and staging, cancer centers use the same treatment protocols.

Prayers to your family.
I hope Tuesday brings you a little comfort by getting a plan set up. Step by step. She's got this. Looks like a little fighter.
