Some of you are missing another point. Trash sitting for a week in the hot arse sun stinks to high hell. Having it picked up twice a week is ideal in the south. Yall enjoy your stank though, I guess it mixes right in with the rest of NOLA stank.

We had to rent a 2nd can to make it 7 days. If they managed to miss you occasionally, which happened to us some, we were screwed.

You're producing alot of trash then. Ours is only picked up once a week and my family of 4 rarely fills our 1 can all the way up and if we miss a week we can usually squeak by and squeeze a second week in.

I've never lived anywhere that got twice a week.

Jeff Davis Parish has private pickup. Once a week. Two cans. $38 a month with Dillon Disposal.

Best trash pickup I ever experienced in my life. You put anything out there, they taking it.

It's amazing the level of service you receive when you remove the government's involvement.

Yeah, I'm wondering what kind of trash some of these people are generating. The cans are huge. We rarely come close to filling one in a week. 4 people in my household.
Exact same here, 4 people in the house.

Garbage never comes close to half full. Recyclables gets close to filling up.

Only time it's ever an issue is recyclables after Christmas with all the boxes that have to be tossed out.

My once a week pickup comes on Thursdays. If I have something that will rot and smell like death from the weekend, I typically will double bag it and put it in my stand up freezer if it fits. If not, I'm finding a dumpster somewhere.

When do they start giving out 2nd(or 3rd) garbage cans?

All you have to do is request additional cans through 311

City of Houston has been once a week for years. It's not a big deal if you have the big cans.

But we also have green "recycling" cans that are the same size and get picked up every other week.

And since my day was Saturday we had a couple of holidays that fell on saturday this year and they didnt come those days either.

I would love for all of you to sit here and say no problem when the trash doesnt come for 3 weeks.

But the $8m rise in cost for 50% of the current service? That’s some bullshite right there.

What is the total contract value with that $8MM addition?

Also guaranteed once a week is an improvement for some areas. Didn't like the once a week at first, but adapted and honestly hasn't been bad. Probably missed about 1/2 the twice a week pickups anyway.

Never had much of a problem with this. But we don't waste alot of food either. If I think something will rot and stink like raw chicken carcass or something I just double bag it real well.

1. Lots of waste are generated by cardboard. Much of it isn't food containers or consumables. Just somehow junk piles up. Dirty diapers, kid crap, etc.

2. I heard a stat not long ago that Baton Rouge is so backed up with recyclables that they could stop collecting today and they'd have enough to continue working for almost 10 years. I quit recycling when I heard that.

The cost deal is a whole other issue of course, but I'm cool with the once a week otherwise

I have 1 large garbage can and 2 of the recycling cans...we will sometimes fill all 3 up with garbage and the trash truck will empty all 3

The Recycling truck comes on Thursdays and trash on Fridays...sometimes the recycling truck will empty the recycling cans that are full of trash....

So I basically get 3 cans emptied twice a week.

I just ordered another garbage can through 311 just for the hell of it

We pretty much just use the recycle bin for Amazon boxes.

Here's the issue, crawfish season we boil every week, lots of parties, lots of trash, and when they only pick up on Fri, the trash sits for a week.
Then, the MENSA members reach in the cans and grab the top bag and don't even dump the whole can, so it sits for two weeks.
There is a BS reporting system to log a missed pick up, but it is worthless.
If this is real, I will be leading the mob with pitchforks.

Big 70lb pig roast two weeks ago Sat, and guess what, that carcass is still sitting at the road. You can smell it from two houses over.
frick Teedy.

I also dont think people understand how nola is set up, the houses are on top of each other, that means your entire neighborhood isnt being picked up for 3 weeks. you smell that shite walking out of your house every morning.

the house i lived in was split into 3 units. so just our garbage is 3 units of people. thats not including several blocks around you with rotting garbage.

And the poster noted above, being in a city like that, people arent bagging their garbage, its why you see chicken bones and crawfish shells all over the ground and have to be careful walking your dog.

I wanted to add our sidewalk and a box spring on it for 3 months just blocking the walking path. but have your bumper stick out a little too far and you get a ticket.

Absolutely, ours is weekly and most times it's not even half full.

But to up the price and cut the service, that's some bullshite.

I've never lived anywhere that did multiple pickups a week. It's really not a big deal.

Where I live now, trash pickup is built in to the water bill and whenever you set up an account with the water company, they give you a can and you can pay $5/month for any extra cans you want. It's a pretty good deal.
