I’ve never lived anywhere that had trash pick up more than once a week. Ours does trash on Tuesdays, Yard Waste on Wednesdays. Recycling is put out every other week with trash. We have three large cans, two trash and one recycling. Any of them can be used for yard waste.

Never had an issue. And we have people over quite a bit during basketball/football season and pretty much every other weekend.

At my house we have trash pickup Monday and Thursday, recycling and debris on Monday only. They'll pick up pretty much anything on Monday though other than contractor debris. You can put a refrigerator on the curb and they'll take it.

Most our recycling goes to the trash. This is a major issue in Kenner right now.

I just burn my trash. At least when there isn’t a burn ban.

It wont be that big of a deal IF they bring back recycling. Separating recycle material from trash makes the trash volume 30% less.
BUT that slimy cocksucker of a Mayor can't be trusted to do anything right.

I also dont think people understand how nola is set up, the houses are on top of each other, that means your entire neighborhood isnt being picked up for 3 weeks

Why not for 3 weeks if they pick up weekly?

And the poster noted above, being in a city like that, people arent bagging their garbage, its why you see chicken bones and crawfish shells all over the ground and have to be careful walking your dog.

Well that just sounds like you live in a shitty place. Not sure how extra pickups will help with that.

I've never lived anywhere that did multiple pickups a week. It's really not a big deal.

Where I live now, trash pickup is built in to the water bill and whenever you set up an account with the water company, they give you a can and you can pay $5/month for any extra cans you want. It's a pretty good deal.

We have a similar setup, but it is on the utilities bill, not water, and we get our own cans. Also once a week pickup. The only thing I want changed is I wish they'd get the auto-dump trucks, but they probably never will. The county contracts collection out, and none of the outfits bidding want to upgrade their trucks.

Yeah they aren't going to do that in the states. In nyc they have multiple times daily pick up but I couldn't figure it out. I stayed out on the fire escape watching them. So many trucks barely any stopped. Then when one would they would grab only one color bag.

Why not? Most civilized people would bag their food and put it on the curb.

We don't even have recycling or yard waste (country). Just one can once a week. But we do burn a few boxes about every 3 weeks or so. We could probably get them in the can, but they are good for getting the firepit going and my son likes doing it.

We're working on that. I can confirm that one GPS tracker went to River birch.
IV says they will fix it. We will retest later. 2 of 3 trackers did make it to Baton Rouge. So some recycling is being recycled.

My brother lives in Marietta, GA, where there is no city-provided (or mandated) garbage/trash/recycling service. There are a number of service providers, and each person chooses the service that best fits their needs. Unlike Baton Rouge and New Orleans, where homeowners have no recourse, people in Marietta can fire their existing contractor, and hire a new one, if the first guy is not performing per their agreement.

I could get by with once a week (family of 4, but the 2 are of the smaller variety). We get picked up Wednesday & Saturday mornings. 90% of the time, my Saturday morning is 1 kitchen bag.

Yard waste is picked up with trash, so my Wednesday used to have one large bag of yard waste. But that has has gone down drastically now that between my house and my 4 neighbors, there are 2 trees (used to be 10 pre-Ida).

Recycle is a small bin that we fill up every week; but if necessary we can just breakdown the boxes and put in the yard with the bin on top and they pick-up every time.

Why live in Orleans when Jefferson Parish right next door has two-day garbage pickup, a functioning police force, streets that aren't full of crater-like potholes, and utility costs that are half of what you pay in Orleans?

Your trash runs three times a day, 5 days a week?

for comparison, I don't have an outdoor trash can. I have to take my trash to the truck but they come by 3x a day every day except for Sunday and recycling picks up 4x a week.

My trash comes through every Tuesday. One trash, one recycle, one green waste. Not sure if ever need anything more.

Having them pass through twice a week seems like a pain in the arse and just asking for cans to be lined up and down the street all week making the neighborhood look like shite.
