Tabby Thomas, that black dude who's the judge on American Idol, John Fred and the Playboys and Stormy Daniels.

Robert Penn Warren wrote All The Kings Men at Sammy's in Prairieville while teaching at LSU.

A little thing called the Delta. Some of the best dirt in the world. Well, technically Iowa and the Midwest have the same dirt, but they were kind enough to share it with the river which deposited it down for us and our superior climate to take advantage us. Look past the towns that dot the delta, on both sides of the river, and there is a bit of paradise. If you're into what it offers anyway. I am.

The Gulf Coast part of Mississippi is basically an extension of southern Louisiana. Plenty of people who live in NOLA have summer homes in Bay St Louis and long the Jordan River.

I don't know a whole lot about RPW -- wasn't he involved with the Southern Review, that was somehow connected to The Agrarians? That was the only thing I could think of that could even compare to the Hayride

I'm Louisiana born and bred, but MS has produced great authors. Eudora Welty, Faulkner, Grisham, and Greg Iles. Not sure how that backwards state gave us those brilliant writers, but it did.
