Red dirt and that endless pine tree tunnel that stretches into a triangle into the horizon and into infinity when you're on the interstate

Not great authors? Their best selling books tell me otherwise.

I was born and raised on the gulf coast with the rest of my family being from new orleans. So from my point of view what is mississippi not good at? as it was said before, where i'm from is nothing more than a summer retreat for people from Nola and the rest of LA...I can't speak for anything going on north of I10 though except for the exceptionally cheap (and good) hunting land and friendly people

They do.

You want to use that as a criteria, then that "Fifty Shades of Grey" bitch must be Hemingway

Good point. Best selling doesn't equal well written. But I'm assuming too much here, as you've never read them, have you?

Take out metro Jackson and most of the Delta and it would be a decent place. As it is.....

The three coastal counties have been really good to my family. I have no intention of moving back to LA.

I don't know but I like the people and the businesses there. I've been all over the world, Mississippi is a perfectly great place to be.

Bottom line, I find "the People" to be Mississippi's biggest asset. Although you can find as much trash in any state in this region of the country these days, when I run into people in Mississippi, I find that I run a better than average chance of running into a more pleasant experience than a negative one. They are quite gracious, and some of the warmest and hospitable people in the South. Additionally, and sometime a real negative for that which is good, they don't cave into surrendering their traditional moral values very fast, and in this day and time, that is a very admirable and enduring quality. When the world goes complete to shite, I mean like done, you can be rest assured that Mississippi will be at least 20 to 30 years late to the party, and will prove to be a refuge for fighting till the last man and woman.

Used to be pretty damn good at growing cotton.

But as we found out, cotton doesn't pick itself.

They're usually the fattest, poorest and dumbest state of all states each year so I guess you could say they're good at being fat, poor and dumb...

Nothing wrong with Mississippi, and no state from the southeast has any business talking shite about other southern states.

Except Georgia which is clearly better than Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Because the state line magically makes it change when you enter Louisiana.
