I saw this hunt on LA Sportsmen website.

I read the comments and everybody was giving her props for the hunt.

I didn't think so. And I left a message saying I wasn't impressed. It was not a big deal, and I felt bad for the cat.

That bitch can suck it for shooting that big cat that way, and anybody else who thought that hunt involved "skill."

When i kill a deer im stoked, i remember the biggest deer i killed 2years ago. I had it on camera all fall and tried n tried to get it, and i finally did and it ran off. I trailed it for 3hrs, found the deer again....not going to go into full story too long. Needless to say i got him and it was a very stressful/emotional deal for me that whole hunt. After i got him i didnt run up talking trash and yelling, all i wanted to do was sit by it and Thank God for allowing me to take him. Seriously alsmot cried i was nervous wreck

Me either.

I used to watch the Deer & Deer Hunting show and the show that I think was called Inside the Game (or something like that) which were all about bettering the habitat, deer population, etc. If they did show a hunt, as often as not the hunter missed or didn't get a shot. I don't even bother watching them anymore.

The main thing against hunting shows is that they are no better than redneck versions of MTV's Teen Cribs. People showing off killing deer that they did not have to really hunt and trying to pass it off as making them a great hunter.

watching bear hunts that involve those big barrels of bait kinda disgusts me, no sport in that

This is true, and its unfortunate. It would be nice to have a show that does more than show you gear reviews and a "set up" kill.

There was a show on the food network of all places (I think) about this guy who went hunting, fishing and then would prepare the game. It seemed really authentic and was very positive for the hunter, as he really sold the positives of hunting, while downplaying the killing aspect. Explained it well how you can respect your game, and still have a great hunting experience.

I agree. Hunting shows pretty much suck and are wonderful propaganda for the anti-hunters. I generally don't watch them. Plus, half of the morons on these shows are terrible shots.

Also, there is absolutely NO REASON to shoot a mountain lion unless your life or property is in danger.

Exactly. The "If it's Brown, it's Down" and "If it Flies, it Dies" bumper stickers don't help our cause, either. They make us look like a bunch of stupid, blood-thirsty rednecks.

Isn't this how you hunt most things with dogs?
I don't get the hate

No issue with using dogs. I just don't get hunting mountain lions period.

Well, I don't really understand the excitement for it either, but I'm pretty sure they are managed by whatever the local Dept of Natural Resources is.

I can understand the need to "hunt" them, depending on the local situation, but I am with you in that I don't understand the jumping up and down and whooping and hollering about it... especially considering, by viewer accounts, that it sounds like she made a pretty shitty shot on a stationary target in a tree.

It aggravates me when you see an obviously terrible arrow shot on a deer, that you know will require waiting until the next day, tracking dogs, etc., then they pretend like it went down within 100 yds.

Kinda like how they pulled in a gator on Swamp People that already had a tag in its tail.

Stopped watching Swamp People when they showed Troy and Jacob poaching turkeys.

Sounds pretty shitty....never understood why you would kill a ML, Lion, Elephant, or any other game like that.

As long as they arent attacking your cattle or kids....but some people like seeing it

Saw one of those last night. Obvious rigor was obvious.

I'm not a big fan of predator hunting, but I've killed black bear(no baiting)before and it was a gas. I have no desire to shoot one off of a trash can full of donuts.

I love turkey hunting and to a lesser degree deer and elk hunting. I've always dreamed of hunting dangerous game particularly African Cape Buffalo. No desire to hunt lion, elephant, rhino, etc..

As I see it, as outdoorsmen we are tasked with managing the species. That includes cats, bears, etc. While predator hunting doesnt do much for me, I'm glad someone is keeping tabs on them.

Rare is it that a hunting show will actually teach you some

This is my problem with both hunting and fishing shows.

For a non hunter only 6 years ago, I found hunting shows very informative for about 1 year. Once I knew all of the language, and basic set ups, there was nothing else to learn. Massive infomercials.

Same here. 2 of them in one day.

Then the Indians stalked the wild hogs.
