Maybe if we offer to give them back one of the minor islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands in addition to Puerto Rico they might bite!

The ney sayers are similar to the ones that criticized the purchase of Alaska. Greenland has a ton of natural resources. As the temps increase , they become easier to collect. It’s a win to me.

That place looks like the warehouse from the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

He wanted to trade a territory with a $31,000 GDP per capita for one with a $48,000 GDP per capita? Sounds like a pretty big win for the US.

The naysayers on Twitter are claiming this was proposed because racism, of course. Those mouthbreathers are saying he wants to ship Puerto Rico's brown people to some other country.

Well most people don’t know their geography (thanks public schools!) so one gander at the Mercator projection and they’ll think it’s larger than the U.S.

Do they want to work and pay taxes to the US? No? Then they can get the frick out.

PR has a horrible problem with people living off of welfare and isn’t subject to federal tax due to their status as a territory. Dumping the island and its people would be a case of economic addition through subtraction.

I don't know. Would the US be taking on an onerous contact with Greenland? Might be worth a flier.

On the other hand, I can't see Denmark wanting to keep the PR contract. It would probably be a trade and release on their end. The US is just trying to get under the world salary cap and offload some bad contracts.

Of course, there is always the possibility China would come in and claim PR off waivers

Rich, untapped resources or nightmare resource drag? I just can't decide.

I mean PR was nice when we were lobbing naval shells at it for all those decades, but now we can't even do that.

No, I am going with Greenland. Or a warm Pabst Blue Ribbon if that is the best offer.

About the only appeal to PR is location. And China could probably pull off what they want by using Cuba as easily as PR.

The only person who would make that deal is Jon "The Moron" Daniels (the Texas Rangers' GM who IS that stupid).
