I actually respect bending the company over when they're desperate for labor. Nice negotiating tactic.

Damn right, you know the company would have no problem bending their employees over if things were reversed.

In order to successfully strike, one must have a skill to use as leverage. What non-replaceable skill does a whole food worker have?

Ya it's a combo of what Craigbro said and what you said. There were a ton of local farmers and niche vendors.

OK, I've heard of infused liquors. But that's just nasty.

You will find this somewhat snowballing and with the Virginia announcement of June 11, the fun is just beginning. Keep your guns clean and powder dry.

Well, the Apple store shut down for the foreseeable future... so not there.

That was... funnier in my head, now that I read it.

True- though I don't think I can get anything for $6 in that place.

I do think price gouging laws should be amended if the extra proceeds go directly to covering hazard pay, sick leave, and/or PPE.

I hope whole foods fires y'all with haste. Plenty of people are legitimately out of work right now and I'm sure they'd love a job.

Desperate for labor? That entire workforce can be replaced in a day.

I was wondering when stuff like this would start to happen.

Until about a couple of days ago I saw workers a Kroger without any sort of protective gear...no masks or gloves and I still don't see em being used at Publix.

These stores need to do a better job of protecting their front line workers.

During an epidemic when unemployment benefits are generous and all other bills are basically suspended? Factor in many low income workers don’t really eye their credit score when making life decisions, and you should be grateful to your fellow human for showing up to stock shelves while an epidemic of unknown long-term effect rages around them. I know myself well enough to know I wouldn’t do it.

Doesn't Trump have special union busting powers in times of national emergency?

You think folks are lining up to interact with the public for $10 an hour?

Yep,good luck find folks who want those jobs.Beyond being a health care worker, working retail at a grocery store is probably one of the higher risk jobs you can have right now.

Didn’t amazon (before buying Whole Foods) start piloting stores without cashiers. Just an app on the phone. Just take an item off the shelf and it bills your amazon account?

Yes, but then a bunch of cities worried this would discourage the homeless subsistence on theft, so they made the concept illegal. People won’t pass taxes to fix the problem if it doesn’t exist!

Yep. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they won’t switch to online orders only (with phone in orders available for elderly/handicapped).
