draft expert Matt Miller has covered this topic recently, trying to piece together the most likely teams to make such a move. More importantly, what would the package they’d assemble look like? Miller listed three teams as candidates. Here is who they are and what they likely end up offering.

HOUSTON TEXANS

THE OFFER: NO. 2 OVERALL, A THIRD-ROUNDER, A FOURTH-ROUNDER AND A 2024 THIRD-ROUNDER

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

THE OFFER: NO. 4 OVERALL, A SECOND-ROUNDER, A FOURTH-ROUNDER AND A 2024 THIRD-ROUNDER

CAROLINA PANTHERS

THE OFFER: NO. 9 OVERALL, A THIRD-ROUNDER, A FOURTH-ROUNDER, A 2024 FIRST-ROUNDER AND A 2024 THIRD-ROUNDER

Should the Bears, trade their #1 pick OR trade Justin Fields? Thoughts?

If you can gain all that by trading with Carolina, you do it. Quickly.

Panthers will suck again next year so that would be a great deal for bears

I would like that haul, but you might not be getting a blue chip talent all the way down at 9.

Then again, some would say the Bears are 2-3 years from being a contender.

I don't think you trade Justin Fields yet. The bears aren't making the playoffs next year anyway I think this is Fields make or break year if he continues to show promise and gets his team into position to make the playoffs the following year you keep him if not cut your losses and tank for Caleb Williams.

lol

just last week, people on here and nfl talking heads claimed there was a pot of gold coming for #1.

none of those proposals are a pot of gold, let alone a pot of cock meat sandwiches.

It’s crazy how short of a leash QBs have now. Used to you would let them sit on the bench and learn a year or two, now if they don’t perform in year one on a terrible team you’re no good.

Who was the last top 5 QB who didn’t immediately get thrown to the wolves?

Eli? Carson Palmer?

I don’t know. I think he kinda sucks at throwing the football. If you can get a nice haul for him and one of the qbs this year is better I’d make the move.

Imagine giving up all those assets for a 5'10", 180 lb QB who was surrounded by the best "#1" talent in CFB and still didn't win shite in college.

Houston is just plum stupid for intentionally winning that game in week 18. I get that Lovie probably knew he was done and said screw it, but still.

Out of the 3, Carolina is the best but Colts want a chance to frick Houston again by trading ahead of them.

Jalen Carter and Will Anderson are the kind of guys with the potential to change the way their position is played. I don’t pass up taking one of the two if I’m the bears.

Even with the heavy Carolina package, I’m going with the Texans or colts

I fully expect the Colts to pay up to jump ahead of Houston if Houston likes two of the QB’s. If they have similar grades on Stroud and Young then it makes sense to let the Colts lose assets to jump them.

That sounds like something the Saints would be willing to do.

If they do this, they deserve to lose for the next ten years.

Either nobody in this class is a franchise build around, or like five people are.

You take the best available non QB at 9 regardless of position or need

NFL teams are notorious for overthinking themselves into mediocrity. If you can't find a solid contributor with the 9th overall pick then you were probably going to piss away the 1st overall as well. At least in this scenario you get additional picks and probably a decent first rounder next year.

Trade with the Texans, then move out of 2 and trade down again with one of the others. If it’s the colts likely still get whatever defensive guy you would have picked at 1 at 4
