Sorry guys, I know this has certainly already been covered, but I don’t want to accidentally stumble into a spoiler thread.

Can one watch 1883 first with no Yellowstone knowledge, or would that hurt the experience?

Or should I just avoid them or both of them altogether?

Thanks, and sorry to revisit

No..You're the first to comment on 1883:

Seriously, you can watch either first because aside from the family name they are completely separate stories.

You can watch them in any order. One is a prequel to the other, but they are very different. I like Yellowstone better, but others will disagree.

It's along the same lines as watching the original Star Wars trilogy or the prequals first.

Whichever you watch 2nd will make whichever you watch 1st seem more special. So since Yellowstone is the main focus and will have the most seasons, you'll want to watch it first and 1883 second.

I get it. I see threads all the time but avoid them since I don’t watch.

I don’t want to stumble into a thread of spoilers.

I’m contemplating watching 1883 first since it’s one season, but I don’t want viewership to suffer without watching Yellowstone first.

Thanks

Edit:
I’m gonna start up one of them this week at some point. I’m counting on you folks to tell me which is better place to start

1883 is a Western
Yellowstone is a soap opera

1883 would have been so much better if it were just a 3 hour movie and they cut out 90% of the droning, incoherent, terrible-accented narration.

IMO, your viewership cannot suffer by watching one before the other. They don't spoil each other. There are some flashback scenes in Yellowstone that hint at what happens much later if 1883 were to continue, but nothing spoilerish.

With all that said, I would just pound out 1883 first.

If you do watch 1883 first and do t like it still give Yellowstone a shot. Totally different and 1883 can be slow.
