I seem to be struggling with it and would like to know if anyone else has dealt with and overcome it. I just prefer drinking caffeine drinks (coffee every morning, diet sodas as opposed to water, etc.) all day long. I never feel like they energize me...contrarily, I feel like they make me more tired than just drinking water does. But, it is such a struggle to avoid them. I hate it.

I have read that people who are ADHD (which I probably am) can at times have reverse effects from caffiene. But, if anybody has any advice I would greatly appreciate it!

I consume a ton of caffeine but it doesn’t make me have any adverse reactions. I just function a lot better when I’m on it.

So yea that’s probably an addiction

If the idea is to wean off, you can slow down what you take in by cutting out coffee and tea, choosing a non-caffeinated soda like a Sprite, etc.

But you will probably end up drinking a lot of water.

And what you will find in my experience is that caffeine doesn’t necessarily touch you now if you are at tolerance but cutting it out then having a moderate amount can mess up your sleep.

Drink more water and go from there.

Struggled with caffeine addiction my whole life. As a kid it was soft drinks, as an adult it's coffee. I buy the Community half-caff but wind up just drinking more of it. It's a routine thing as well which is hard as shite to break long-term.

I drink coffee all throughout the day, every day. I am sure I am addicted, but it does not impair my lifestyle or my health - so I don't worry much about it.

I do drink plenty of water as well, so coffee is NOT the only thing I drink.

Coffee in morning but don’t care if it is decaf.

A soft drink about every other day

I do notice sleep issues if I have iced tea after lunchtime. Go to sleep fine but wake up a bunch. So only water or occasionally crystal light raspberry tea for dinner

Coffee is fine and even has health benefits. Ditch the diet drinks. They are poison and it’s not because of the caffeine

Drinking soda over water al day long is lower class behavior

No.

I just can’t function or be productive without it.

been working solo for about 21 years so coffee is very much just part of breaking the monotony of being by myself for most of each day

I’ve never been tested but half the time I get extremely sleepy after having a large amount of caffeine. Always assumed it was because I’m sensitive to caffeine and never consumed it too often.

Yes but since it’s unlikely that my life careens out of control due to Coke Zero, I’m just going to roll with it and remain a junkie

When I quit smoking 20 yrs ago, I stopped drinking coffee and alcohol for a while too. It was an associative habit to have a cigarette while drinking coffee. Anyway, after about 3 months, I decided I was comfortable enough to have coffee again. Made my pot of regular as normal. Got my cup and maybe had three sips before I thought I was going to die. Head was pounding, heart was racing, and my hands were shaking. Never been able to drink caffeine since.

I can tell instantly if someone has given me regular instead of decaf in about three sips. They put caffeine in everything for a reason.

How many sodas you talking about?

I try to start everyday with at least 16 ounces of water, I just guzzle it to start That slows coffee drinking a bit. I also use a 10 ounce cup not a huge mug. So 3-4 cups a day is about 24-32 ounces as it only holds about 8 ounces or I spill it.

Maybe try measures like that?

It’s tough no doubt. I am a workout type guy and struggle with it as soda is everywhere and I like them all. I will go weeks/months without them as I hit the gym hard then I’ll inevitably fall off the wagon and go balls out for weeks at a time. The hardest part is the 3-4 days of constant headaches when I come off caffeine. You gotta get off it man. It’s terrible for your body. I feel waaaay better and less bloated off caffeine but it’s definitely a battle to stay off. But you and I both have to do it. It’s just horrible for you in every respect - teeth, gums, gut, metabolism, weight, skin, etc.

My struggle since 8m in pretty good shape is that “I’m in shape and it won’t hurt me too bad” then 2 weeks later I feel like total garbage which leads to skippe pd workouts. I’m currently a week into no caffeine and am past the headaches and feeling good again. Now, I just gotta be strong enough to skip the offer or the combo meal when it’s in front of me.

I did at one time. I've never been a coffee drinker, but used to drink a shitload of sodas. One day I started a diet to try to drop some weight and went cold turkey on the Cokes. Caffeine withdrawal gave me a headache so bad that I threw up. Now I primarily drink unsweetened ice tea, but if I go without caffeine I don't have any adverse reactions anymore.
