University View, if you consider that to be a public school and if you consider hybrid school to be "sending" your kid to school.

This is why I live just across the parish line and send my kids to Dutchtown HS.

My kids did BRFlaim, Sherrod Middle, BR Magnet High. Daughter's semester fee bill college has not been over $113, my son is in high school and based on his performance, I expect nearly free college as well.

Mayfair Lab School

Also the school where a certain poster teaches if he was my kid's teacher.

How hard was it to get into BR Flaim with your first child? My oldest turns 4 in September and this whole thing gives me major anxiety.

Only Baton Rouge High. Glad I only have two more years of K-12.

Nope. Mainly because there’s not enough diversity. At any of them. ??

Dutchtown HS.

Dutchtown is a zoo. It might be a level 3 zoo and not a 5 like Tara or G Oaks.

Mayfair Lab Magnet is a great little school. It has what makes private schools better in most cases around here....a strong sense of community among the kids parents and staff.

there are a few primary and middle schools that can suffice, but as far as HS, no, i wouldn't send my kids to public schools

From my somewhat limited knowledge of Baton Rouge public schools, which I've only learned from tigerdroppings (I live nowhere close to Baton Rouge), I can't imagine sending my kid to any Baton Rouge school except for Baton Rouge High.

They come out with blue hair, a distaste for capitalism and earn side cash by protesting. Or they major in engineering.

Magnet? Yes, absolutely. Non-magnet? No.

Plan is for my son to go Mayfair Lab then BRMHS. Then get outta here.

When my kid went there were unfilled seats in French
Second kid got preference. My kid is doing a study abroad for free this summer courtesy of CODIFL. She is getting a minor in French from High school plus this study abroad. EBRschools has some good stuff.

My next door neighbor has 2 kids the same age as mine. They spent a fortune sending them to Episcopal K-12 and ended up in the same place for college. Our daughters are in the same college friend group.

I know I’m pressing you, but what was the significance of this? Did your child have to demonstrate some proficiency in French? I know prospective students have to take a test.

ETA: went and read where K and 1st does not require any proficiency in the immersion language.

Now… NO !
But 25+ years ago, Broadmoor was a great school. Mr. Vaughn was principal and he ran a tight ship. Considering how well my child and her husband are doing, I would say they got a lot from their experience there.

Seems as if EBR public 'schools' are now much more a 'jobs program'...MILLIONS spent on admins/programs/consultants....very little emphasis on what really matters i.e. emphasis on parental INVOLVEMENT,rewarding and compensating competent TEACHERS, stress disciplin/self-control/acievement etc. IF one refuses to clearly IDENTIFY the real problems, how can anyone claim to be solving our D grade educational 'system' ????

Used to way back in the day. A lot of the schools were good neighborhood schools. Horrible what happened.

U-High is a solid public school. Probably the best in the city.
