While we're piling on here (I too loved PTs as a kid but don't like them now) ... in addition to needing a microscope to find whatever chemical filling they're using, the outer cake portion is so dry and flavorless it's nigh inedible.

I was always more of a Cracklin' Good (Winn Dixie brand) guy, myself. Thicker with more filling. The packet also was a durable foil that could be folded up to reseal if you only wanted 1 pastry

Try the Wal Mart Great Value brand.
Tried a box on a whim and they have more filling and are actually decent in taste and amount of filling… the cherry ones anyway.

No one will ever convince me that the vanilla Pop Tarts weren't the best.
