I’ll repost this for you, Walt. Because you need help. And you need to re-evaluate your life.

When you become depressed and apathetic and you hate yourself and your existence because you refuse to put forth the effort it takes to find needed security in life rather than wanted comfort, then the constant consumption of food becomes a comfort.

At first it is terrible and miserable as you gain weight and develop small health problems. But as you continue to mass consume the act of consumption and it’s following processing by the body numbs you. It becomes a comfort in much the same way feeezing to death is described. Or, in an interesting parallel, a runners high.

In a runners high you are so tuned and prepared that the exhaustion and release of chemicals in your brain from pushing yourself to the limit actually function to numb you and block out the stimuli telling you to stop. This is a good thing in exercise as it allows you to push past you limits.

However when we apply that same principle to obesity, apathy, and mass consumption (which can be discussed both as mass junk consumption of calories as well mass junk consumption of stimuli through electronic media) you get a nightmare mirror result to a runners high.

Everything in your brain and body is begging you to stop eating and stop being sedentary but as it is all you have trained yourself to do you push past the rational blocks and your “endurance” crumbles reality into a sort of hell where facing the reality of your obesity is so overwhelmingly terrifying you further push yourself into rather than confront it until you’re always numb. You’re always consuming. It hurts not to consume because that’s what you’ve wired your brain to rely on. Comforts over security.

Quick fleeting unearned rewards over fruitful products of earned labor.

We can have a discussion of the ills of our current society through this lens.

People who live their life in a constant shallow consumption of electronic media aren’t really any different than the morbidly obese.

Maybe because the old ad campaign stopped working, VS is a brand in trouble so instead of focusing on what use to work that no longer does work, they are trying a different approach. Can’t blame them for targeting the audience that may buy from them on more than just special occasions.
