Check out ‘Strange New Worlds’. It is the most like TNG/DS9/Voyager/Enterprise of anything recently. This new season of Picard, so far two episodes in, reminds me of those series as well. I watched Discovery/Picard until I couldn’t anymore. This season of Picard shows real promise. I just want to not be preached to and be entertained in a way that those series entertained me.

I will, if it is anything like this. I never watched Discovery after hearing enough to know I’d hate it. Same with Picard seasons 1 and 2.

There are some references to Discovery in SNW but nothing you really need to know to enjoy it. Just some passing references.

It’s great though and what makes it really have that old school feel is that it is largely episodic, like old Star Trek and TV in general, rather than serial.

Regarding SNW, I just can't get past that wall of hair on the new Pike.

Just a question about the first episode: Why would you put a pump action on a laser rifle?

Agree..they make a helluva a team.

Now, on to Ep 3.

This episode is what I've always thought makes Star Trek so damn great which is story driven episodes that only uses Special effects to advance the story and this episode had a lot of "story" to it.

Beverly explains why she disappeared after she got pregnant with Picard and why he has a British accent.

Worf reveals to Raffi that he's her handler and they form a very colorful team. Michael Dorn hasn't lost a step at all.

The Titan is in a world of shite and they replay hiding in the Nebula as was done in Wrath of Khan except the opponent is far more powerful and Riker has assumed command with the Captain hurt badly.

Oh yeah....The Changelings are back!

There were some other details but I would really encourage the naysayers to give S3 of Picard a look. It's outstanding.

I suspect Picard and Riker have some kind of ruse going with the way the episode ended. Just a hunch, I may be wrong

Nice reference to Odo from Worf, it’s a shame he can’t come back unless they do some weird deep fake.

Also, you think after the Dominion War all Star Fleet ships would come built with those changeling detector things they used in DS9

So far this season has hit 3 for 3.

ETA: I'm not sure if it's his uniform now or what, but Dorn looks to be in great shape. He looks skinnier than he did on TNG or DS9.

I watch "Shuttlepod one" which is a Youtube show hosted by Malcom and Tripp from Enterprise where they have really good interviews with people from the Star Trek Universe.

Michael Dorn was on a few weeks back and he talked about sliming down.

Michael Dorn Interview

Not bad for a guy who is 70

I noted Wrath of Kahn music when they were in the nebula. Fitting.

Speaking of Wrath of Kahn:
Kirk/Spock reunited in command
Kirk and separated ex have meaningful discussion about estranged son
Wounded starship hides in nebula

Also, they had the star trek 6 music going when they were talking about the saboteur.

For a minute I thought the Picard that returned from sickbay and kept arguing with Riker was the Changeling.

I'm ecstatic they're bringing the Dominion War into this. Such an important part of Starfleet/Federation history.

I think they stole Lore.

Just started watching. This season is EXACTLY what I wanted when the show was first announced.

The TNG crew on a new mission.
I didn't like the first season. The second was better but this is TNG.

Age?

She’s 74 years old.
She was almost 40 years old for the pilot.

Cursory searches seem to have everyone agreeing she didn’t do anything to her face and that if you look at more recent pictures you can see the changes.

Most likely she lost weight which caused some of the features to change.

I suspect that the lighting of the TV show does accentuate it a bit.
