Does Barbe’s coach have to be a teacher as well? Or is baseball his only job? Serious question

In Louisiana only head coaches of the big 3 sports (football, basketball, and volleyball) have to be full time teachers at a public school.

It is possible for a public school to hire just a person to be a head baseball coach and not have to teach, but that person won’t receive a full teachers salary.

He is retired.

And the money is raised by the program itself, it’s all organic

And it doesn’t require money. Most schools have a weight room. You may have to do 5am lifts because you share the weight room but it can be done

Make the parents buy blast bat speed monitors and get the boosters to pay for the coaches account

You can find velo programs for free or very cheap on the internet

If the coach don’t know how to program TrainHeroic has plans for everything by top of the line coaches, just require it as part of being on the team

It can all happen very easily if the coach and a set of boosters are willing. To work their asses off to build it.

Instead coaches spend money on team bats that nobody uses, waste time doing things like running poles and spend two hours on bunt coverage instead of concentrating on the things that actually matter

Are all 9 starters from this years catholic team getting baseball schollies at D1 level? Just talked to a player from Jesuit 80 team and he said 9 from that team did.

FWIW Catholic will surely have more than 9. They already have 7 with several uncommitted 2025s and 2026s that started or pitched a bunch.

LSU needs to give Clapinski a hard look. He essentially caught high D1 pitching this year and still hit .400. They also need to flip Noah Lewis from ULL. Both 25s.

agree with you there should be a “pinnacle classification” for Louisiana sports

Well until then, they’re all able to play up into 5A

One thing I’ve noticed the past few years… the football teams entering class 5A all seem to be good to great, and the teams leaving it all seem to kind of suck

(With notable exceptions of Higgins and Riverdale re-entering 5A this year, but the past few cycles 5A has added Evangel, Benton, Southside, Prairieville who will be good real soon, John Curtis, Huntington, Neville, Carencro, Salmen, Karr, and Warren Easton and dropped teams like Comeaux, Southwood, Broadmoor, McKinley, Helen Cox, and West Ouachita along with Grace King closing.

. Yet one certain “power” has had 7 of their seasons end on blown bunt coverages

I see 20-30 teams practice a year all over La Ms and Tx

Common flaw I see is over use of fly ball and fungo machines giving exact same look, angle, speed and trajectory.

Hit a damned fungo

Did you see 1980 Jesuit play?

Catholic this year is without a doubt the most decorated team. As LSU777, or someone said, having out of state games count for PowerPoints was big. They played the big boy schedule and dominated.

As a Zachary guy, I’d love to see the 07 team match up with anyone in a 3 games series. 7 D1 guys, a few JUCO, and all 3 starting pitchers drafted out of high school. Also had ZVR, one of, if not the most, decorated Louisiana HS baseball player of all time. That was a fun team to watch.

From my era of HS, those early to Mid 2000 CP teams were absolutely loaded as well

Not saying it’s not important, but it ain’t when you got a losing squad

I agree on fungo

And I wasn’t even born in 1980 lol

Sure that that ball was gone when it left Biggs bat. Walk off HR would have been incredible. Another reason for a three game series.

No, Glenn is the disciplinary guy I think. ISI. It's true that baseball coaches don't have to be full time teachers.

That team was loaded. They fell in the rankings when a bad Brother Martin team beat them in extra innings. BM brought in their ace in the late innings after pitching a complete game 2 days before. The rag arm days.

Thomas Diamond
Ray Liotta
Matt Liuzza
Xavier Paul
Just to name a few.

1974 Rummel baseball says hold my beer.... Finished fourth in Legion World Series, when they played games and not just written on paper.

Quote from a Crescent City Sports article about the passing of long time coach Larry Schneider.

quote:

1974. The Raiders, who went undefeated in Catholic League play that year, defeated Broadmoor 8-0 on a no-hitter by Ricky Zibilich. That 1974 team, which swept prep and Legion titles and finished fourth in the Legion World Series, is considered among the greatest in New Orleans high school baseball history.
