Something I have been thinking about that I haven’t seen anyone mention is what if BI demands a trade once we decline to offer him a max?
he’s under contract for next season for 36MM dollars. Expiring.

they’ll get a decent return for that. Best possible scenario is that Ingram asks for a trade before the draft

I’ve always viewed the CJ trade as a 1st for CJ and a relatively even swap, at the time, of Hart for Nance.

Dyson, Nance, a 1st, and BI.

fair enough
nance expires after next season at 11MM
so 47MM worth of expiring salary between him and ingram

worth noting that they could really go get anyone with that, assuming there’s an opportunity. We all pointed and laughed at MIN for the gobert trade, and now look at them

The reason people laughed at the Gobert trade was that the idea was for KAT to be their best player with Gobert and Ant as the supporting cast.

Dumping Russell and having KAT out for much of the season changed things so that their team gelled much better, but people will still shite on Gobert until he can make it through the playoffs without getting abused.

Minnesota's frontcourt is dominating Denver the same way the Lakers frontcourt dominated Denver in the bubble. You ideally need multiple long athletic bigs who can work Denver's frontcourt on both sides of the ball and especially on the glass.

Minnesota is built very well to compete with Denver. It'll be interesting to see how Denver counters as I expect this to be. Wake up call for them.

As an FYI, the tweet from the OP did not say, or did not intend to say this.

Seems like he later said he was recapping what Windy said on his pod, he just did a poor job wording it.

There's no reporting or source from the dude who tweeted this that this is the case.

Windy said it on their daily ESPN show the other day also when talking about Philly being interested

So it’s a fact we are waiving BI?

He’s still on our team, and he still holds plenty of value.
Stop acting like he’s a worthless asset.

If Lebron leaves for some odd reason. AD out for the year and we get a lottery pick from them. These lakers fans can stfu saying we lost the trade.

what? Ingram isn’t getting waived LOL.
he’s an expiring contract if he doesn’t get extended. And I’m pretty sure nobody here wants the extension that he is liable to get. And they won’t let him leave for nothing

so he’s a trade asset. We’ve seen the kind of court asset he is already. It isn’t anyone’s fault but his that he’s not a max lead-the-team-to-glory asset during gameplay

MM threw out this hypothetical, and as much as it will seem unacceptable to many for including Herb, I think this is probably where the realistic value is at for BI.

quote:

Cavs Receive: Brandon Ingram

Hawks Receive: Herb Jones, #21, and Caris LeVert

Pels receive: Dejonte Murray,
#10, and Jarrett Allen

This gets you a top 10 pick, in an admittedly weak draft, and 2 All Star caliber starters. So it seems like a pretty good or at least fair return, for all 3 teams honestly.

And I prefer that one. But unless Atlanta decides to blow it up, none of the 3 teams will be looking for future assets as a primary return. I know people think they want to recoup what they some of what they sent out for Murray, but they were rumored to be insistent on Herb because if Murray goes out they need to immediately replace him with another high level starter that they hope fits with Trae.

Watching herb in a hawks uniform would be sad, but I'd take that trade without hesitation

Yeah, the problem that we have is that not many teams are blowing it up this season, at least so far. Maybe some star somewhere will demand to be traded, and an unexpected team decides to blow it up.

I’m not trading herb. I just think he’s too important.

Our D would get worse even with adding Allen

On defense you have to hope that Zion’s late season improvements will be the new normal, if that’s true it’s not as bad as you think.

Allen and Murray >>>> JV and CJ on defense
Trey >= BI on defense.

How you fill Herb’s spot is the question, but that spot no longer has to be a one man gang on defense.
