The Raptors with Og and Siakam comes to mind. Masai waited too long and they got mediocre returns dealing them during the final season of their contracts.

The worst was FVV, who they lost for nothing.

Not that he was ever worth as much as OG or Siakam but they still got SOME value for each of those two. They got dick for Fred.

All sunk cost theory. Sometimes you just have to move on even if your assets value has declined. Lot of GMs struggle with this.

I mean it ain’t happening this year. Not that I don’t agree with it but now is the time to get players that fit his defensive scheme.

Ujiri is great at identifying and developing talent.

He is shite at doing trades involving it because he overvalues his pieces to the point where teams don’t negotiate, they move on completely.

Dell also left a huge fricking mess when he left, such as Solomon Hill and his contract.

This is laughable. Like I said in the thread I made the other day. Griff started off with Zion, AD and Jrue. Name one of ther gm that got to start fresh with thise kinda assets at his disposal. Hill s contract didn’t have much left. Dell was bad, but Griff was given a clean slate with A+ assets to work with.

This team shoujd easily have Garland or Hunter along with Lauri M. And if he had patience and not traded for Adams, he could have had J Allen. He went for about the same compensation. I even made a thread about it years ago.

Lot of other teams' fans who saw Ingram maybe 3-4 times this year acting like we're fricking up...

Y'all can have him!

You do what you’re saying you’re basically screwing more than half the season to increase BIs value, which personally is not smart

Exactly, you trade BI this summer or extend him. Do not go into trade deadline and risk getting nothing for him. The time to trade him was last summer. Don’t keep waiting. No one is going to want a distressed asset with half a season to figure out what to do with. And then you’re essentially wasting a year of your own team because you aren’t going to shake up the roster mid season and compete. Just pull the trigger.

I hate to say it but LeBron was right. BI is no winner. LeGM shipped his arse off with quickness.

This could easily have been a prescheduled social media post, but I do find it a well timed coincidence that the Pels post a "Zion Loves Us And Is Our Leader" post on the same day rumors start spreading about BI not coming back.

GM's and most of us really, struggle with sunk cost and when to step up and recognize that an asset has lost value and may lose still more. It's hard to accept.

Here though I think with Brandon you can mitigate that to a large degree. If you, for example, made a deal with Hawks trading BI for DeJounte Murray, but had to forgo a pick from them, or even include one yourself, you are getting a good asset in return who, because of fit or skill set, may end up making your line up better even if he isn't technically a better player.

On paper, Murray's production is very much in line with Brandon's, albeit from a different position. But that's a plus to me because now you get a long, scoring PG and also possibly free up a spot in the starting line up for Trey or at least give him more shots and minutes, depending on what other deals you make.

You have to clear the parts that dont work in order to develop your draft picks.

Many people (not you) on this board have turned their nose up at the mention of development minutes so that the board darlings, Naji and Jose can eat those minutes.

Now, when you need a movement shooter that takes a defender away in the Playoffs, he has racked up more than 30 DNP's and you look like an idiot.

BI, Jose, and Naji have to go.

And ill get the downvotes for Jose, but his ceiling is Jordan Hawkins floor.

Center / Back Up Center
Zion / Dyson
Trey / (Matt) or Back up Wing
Herb / Hawk
PG / CJ (if he is still around)

Should be the bones of the team you want to build around.

The parts I would love to add are obviously

J Allen at Center
Dejuonte Murray at PG

ANY development BIG at Back Up

The only way I see Jose should be on this team going forward is because CJ is not on the team. Either way he would still be in the 10-14 spot anyway.

Now downvote away (the board not you) because Jose or some shite

Jose has a spot on this team but Willie cannot help himself. I agree that Jordan should be getting those minutes. Willie is just a terrible manager.

I find it pretty amusing seeing others teams fans come up with trades for our players.

Best one I’ve seen is Trey, Herb, Nance, Hawkins, and Dyson being sent out in return for Brook Lopez and Duncan Robinson. That shite is disgusting lol. Or Kings fans trading Barnes for Ingram. Lmao

I like the baseball deadline. You’ll see some suggestion like Jackson Holliday for a 35 year old reliever having a career season

Saw another that was trading Zion to the Bulls in three team with the Spurs. The Spurs got Lavine and Javon Carter. And the Pels got Devin Vassell, 2 top 10 protected picks and two second round picks. And I keep waiting for them to say just kidding and it never comes.

shite like that has been happening ever since the team hit NOLA, TBH.

Flipping Baron for a ham sandwich who refused to report set a low bar on what we would get for a lot of guys.
