You think communist governments don't export things?

Correct ud. Its a point in history that always irks me, we started the shat, then pretended kennedy stared them down....when we sheepishly removed our nukes that started it to begin with.

Communists are certainly going to "commune". It is all they got!!

Well, it is until it isn't. One thing about corporations . . . they can be bought.

Cuba

Could be a beautiful Island.

An American influence of the right type could be huge. Look at the difference in the D.R. and Haiti.

Mexico hates us, they open their southern border to the worst of the worse and they waltz right in yet, millions of American vacation there every year.

When countries can no longer provide a platform for growth and prisons are over run, politicians do unthinkable things.

WE have to stop picking winners and losers.

Hell, what do I know, I'm just an ole country boy trying to eke out a living before I buy the farm.

What a waste.

Like any other shithole country not under a US trade embargo. The US embargo impacts only US businesses, not businesses in any other country. That means Cuba can (and does) trade with many other countries so either there's something magical about US goods that no other country in the world can duplicate or the problem is that Cuba's communist government framework is an abject failure. (hint: it's the latter).

Like all of of the British, US and Bahamian islands. Sorta nice neighborhoods around resort areas, nice vacation homes and very poor areas in the mountains that are practically off the grid.

Cuba will be brought into the fold eventually whether they like it or not. We'll never let China set up shop there.

Only one reason really......geography. Our economic power is largely derived from the Mississippi River System. Cuba is in a position to partner with outside powers who could render it worthless if they brought enough naval power to close the Yucatan and Florida Straits. We'd kick the shite out of Cuba and their friends before we'd let that happen though.

Don't care. They asked for their communist paradise.

If the Bolshevik Dems stay in power, that is where we will find ourselves.

Wow...... There's so much wrong here. This premise might hold true if the US dollar wasn't the world's reserve currency and there's this:

30% of the world's wealth is less than 60 miles away from your island and is basically inaccessible. There's no reason we should have an embargo on Cuba. None.
