30% of the world's wealth is less than 60 miles away from your island and is basically inaccessible. There's no reason we should have an embargo on Cuba. None.

70% of the world's wealth is completely accessible and a lot of that American wealth is accessible through intermediaries. Does the embargo hamper them? Yes. Does it keep them in abject poverty? No, the failure of their communist system is doing so much of it that any issues from not being able to trade with the US are negligible.

Unless, again, there's something magical about trading with the US which causes a country to become more productive and focused on wealth-building.

Of course Demone uses the word "literally" like he's a 14yo girl. How fitting

Correct ud. Its a point in history that always irks me, we started the shat, then pretended kennedy stared them down....when we sheepishly removed our nukes that started it to begin with.

One country lied to its people, and didn't tell them about the nukes in Turkey until decades later. The people of the Soviet Union knew more about the actual events of the Cuban missile crisis than the American people. That should tell you how far democrats and their propaganda media are willing to go to protect one of their own. And we wonder how it is that we have a dementia riddled puppet president in 2024?

Don’t fret. You people are trying your best. Communism is patient. You’ll get there one day.

The United States is the only country with an embargo in place on Cuba. Everybody else in the world is free to trade with them. Cuba's problem is because of Cuba, not the United States.

they asked the UN food program for powdered milk to feed kids. This one fact is VERY telling.

The UN and nestle are responsible for tens of thousands of child deaths due to powdered milk

China was suffering a famine due to Mao's state collective farms run strictly adhering to communist ideology. The result of everyone getting "paid" the same regardless of what they actually contributed was that the slackers took advantage to the point that the hard workers who carried all of the load were pissed and laid back too. Food production fell.

After Mao's death, the collective farms were broken up and the land was given to individual farmers. The farmers got to keep and sell anything above the state quota. That year the famine ended.

Why should I care about or be concerned about Cuba?

Classic response by the ignorant socialists. Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.

Surprising. People work harder and production increases when they are rewarded for their labor. How radical. This has only been known for thousands of years yet these idiots still think communism works.

The future isn’t looking good either. 10% of the workface aged population has left for other countries in the last 2 years I think.

It's been less than ideal since Castro took over in the early 60's.

for the first time in this govt's history, they asked the UN food program

There have been many hard times in Cuba but the leaders would never ask for food aid because it would be admitting that communism fails. Today there is some private enterprise going on in Cuba. Home owners are allowed to do bed and breakfast rooms for tourists. They are higher quality than hotels because home owners are competing with other home owners. Hotels don't compete. They get the same payment from govt whether they have tourists are not. So they don't give a shite if you like your room.

The beaches are in very good shape according to my son. He was a Marine at Gitmo.
The US dollar is king in Cuba. You can buy a lot for cheap. Their money is worthless.
