Boy the economy in Cuba is really getting bad

In March, for the first time in this govt's history, they asked the UN food program for powdered milk to feed kids. This one fact is VERY telling.
The govt official exchange rate is 24 pesos to one US dollar, the real rate is closer to 320 pesos to US dollar. So most people use US dollars which further drives the exchange rate.
Inflation is, as expected, terrible, and importing US dollars, you import the inflation as well.
They have cut those qualifying for monthly rations of food.
The price of gas has been raised 5 times this year.
They have planned blackouts every day.
And while we give aid packages to Taiwan, China is snuggling up to Cuba.
Hmmmm its like deja vu all over again.

I wonder how it would look if the US didn’t maintain its ridiculous trade embargo?

Maybe the Biden Admin should visit Cuba to see our future.
Communism always fails to care for citizens..

So what? We have assets and allies that encircle China. It is called containment. People in this country worry about a foreign power when it is the Lying Media (MSM) that is our enemy.

It’s climate change, right?

It’s almost like revolutionary Communism produces maximum human misery. Who knew?

I was referring to the fact we poked the bear by putting nukes in Hungary, and the soviets put them in Cuba.
Now we are screwing around with Taiwan and letting chini run free and clear all throughout the Caribbean. Seems china is the one doing containment, both with neighboring countries, and our politicians

So you admit, Cuba cannot stand on its own?

The US is the sun that our hemisphere and in a lot of ways the entire world orbits around. Two things can be true: Cuba has an awful system of government, and its hard for a country like Cuba to succeed when the economic giant in your region of the world actively locks you out.

Turkey
The Jupiters at issue were in Turkey

It would certainly be better but still bad. I visited Cuba about a dozen years ago. As my plane descended into Havana I noticed what appeared to be a rather nice four lane highway. As I got lower I noticed there were no lane markings and only one vehicle in sight. It was a horse drawn cart. While there, I saw numerous oxen drawn plows.
Damone, You can’t blame that on a US embargo. You just can’t.
I had about a dozen meals there. One thing that stood out is that the fruit was bland. It’s a tropical island and they can’t source fresh fruit. I’m afraid you can’t blame that on the US, either.
The mansions along the ocean front, that used to belong to the rich and powerful, are falling apart. About one in ten had already collapsed. Many of the rest had chunks of concrete missing with exposed reinforcing steel. You see, Damone, you socialists had forced the homeowners to admit peasants from the hills and had taken possession of the houses by the government. With no one owning it, no one maintained it. They are all too far gone to be salvaged.
These houses are microcosms of all of Cuba. Che was in charge of sugar production, and it fell from pre-war levels of 5 to 7 million tons per year to less than half of that. Now it is below half a million tons. There are a lot of customers for sugar in the world, and many are enemies of the United States. I don’t see how you can blame the US for all of this.

Gosh, you really don't know.

Some friends of mine went to Havana with a journalism pass. They were introduced to a nurse who, to make ends meet, moonlighted as a prostitute. They only talked with her, but she could not get by on a nurse's salary alone and said this was not uncommon.

It’s run by the communazis.
Those corporations are needed to implement the government ideology.
Authoritarian instituted via pseudo capitalism as its primary tool of control.
Aspects of fascism are now utilized by the CCP…by design.
The term communazis is not just a linguistic play.
It has meaning.

Communists don’t believe in the free market. Surprised they would even want to participate.

We can have this here as well if we just keep voting Democrat. Forward!!!

There's an easy solution for this.

Probably like every other communist country in history.

One recently did a very revealing story on Cuba.
It was astounding how these people live
Food rations that were pathetic
There’s a reason that all men in Cuba are mechanics , plumbers, electricians and carpenters
No a/c
Plumbing that was patchwork at best.
Cars so old that they wouldn’t be allowed on our roads
Infrastructure decayed to dirt
Despite that, there was a fairly strong sense of community. They seemed joined by their collective misery.
