re: What Cities in Louisiana could've been much bigger?

Normal College (now NSU) would have been in Atlanta, but it only had a spur while the railroad ran through Natchitoches. ...
re: M60 machine gun
Posted by Old0331 on 7/2/23 at 4:53 pm
In 1992 at SOI in Camp Pendleton I watched a Staff Sgt instructor one evening use trigger control and short belts to fire single shot and consistently hit B-mod targets at ~300m firing offhand. This was the E3 version with the vertical handgrip on the gas tube. The worst thing about the M60 is that ...

re: Jeff Landry to travel to Mar-a-Lago to receive endorsement from Donald Trump
Posted by Old0331 on 3/3/23 at 3:38 pm
IF any Republican gets in the runoff with Landry he's toast. Landry's only path to victory is head to head with a democrat. ...
re: John Schroder running for Governor of Louisiana
Posted by Old0331 on 1/9/23 at 4:23 pm
Not sure where you're getting incorrect information, but the base pay for legislators hasn't been raised in 41 years. ...
re: 10mm Handguns: Glock 20 vs Springfield Xdm Elite (4.5)
Posted by Old0331 on 1/9/23 at 12:34 pm
I bought a Sig P320 X-Ten this weekend. Glocks don't line up naturally for me. I'm anxious to get it to the farm and see how it shoots. ...
re: 15 Million Americans About to Lose Medical Coverage

This! The left successfully broke the concept of employment for many of their voters. There should be NO UI benefits paid over 4 weeks in any parish with xyz volume of open positions. ...
re: How long is your commute?
Posted by Old0331 on 12/20/22 at 12:37 pm
26 miles, 35 minutes if I leave on time. Usually take River Road home to pretend I don't live in BR. Takes a little longer, but I'm not in a hurry. ...

If you aren't tied to WW2 era history, try One Bullet Away by Nathanial Fick, and Generation Kill by Evan Wright. It's the same story from the perspectives of a Platoon Commander and an embedded journalist from Rolling Stone. ...

re: Nursing home talk

This is simply untrue. If you suspect that a resident is being chemically restrained you should report it to facility leadership immediately. Chemical restraint has been outlawed for years, sometimes to the detriment of residents....

re: D Day memorials should have much more national prominence
Posted by Old0331 on 6/7/22 at 8:51 am
Agree 100% that we should do more. We took my grandfather in 2006, he was a Utah Beach D-Day participant. There were American flags on everything that would hold one, and he was never allowed to pay for a meal or admission to anything. ...
re: Peacock bass in miami. Guides or tips?
Posted by Old0331 on 5/10/22 at 9:05 am
Scott Rose, Peacock Adventures. My son and I did a day and a half with him summer before last. We fished a canal system in Boynton Beach and then in Key Largo, which was close enough to go to Robbie's for the afternoon. It was an absolute blast, and he's a pro. We will definitely go back with him....

re: .38 SUPER....thoughts?
Posted by Old0331 on 5/5/22 at 4:04 pm
Excellent round. I stopped carrying my .45s and switched to carrying my .38 Super when I moved to EBR because I get 1-2 more rounds per magazine and less muzzle flip. Failure to stop drills are faster with the center mass hits closer together. ...
re: Update: Why to this day do we still have busing of students?
Posted by Old0331 on 2/18/22 at 9:08 am
Most bus drivers have a second job bc they work 4-6 hours a day 8 months of the year. It was never meant to be a full-time job, and as such doesn't pay like a full-time job. What they do have is excellent benefits from this part-time job. ...
