The pace of babies born each year in the U.S. has slowed to a new record low, according to an analysis of 2023 birth certificate data published Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This is on par with annual declines seen before the pandemic, the report said, which averaged around 2% fewer babies each year.

People aren’t having babies even after the overturning of Roe.

Upper middle class and middle class, educated people need to stop waiting until 35 to get married and have kids.
Otherwise our society and economic system are not sustainable.

The people not having babies are professional class women with left wing views
The people having babies are religious, family folk such as Mormons.
This is good news in the long run

This trend has absolutely nothing to do with Roe, Dobbs, or abortion writ large.

The conditions forcing people to put off starting families need to change first. I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Rampant narcissism and a belief that everyone is entitled to luxury at age 25?
I agree.

Is there data that supports this? My assumption is poor, uneducated people are having most of the babies.

Why do you think people like the aforementioned Mormons or some of the traditional Catholic types (go to any Sunday Latin mass if you want to see what I'm referencing) seem immune, or at least not nearly as phased, by these "conditions"?

What else does one expect to happen when we have promoted boy on boy, girl on girl and furry on furry relationships? Procreation is impossible

Mormons are notorious for abusing government assistance. I don’t attend Latin mass but I don’t recall seeing any pregnant women at the large church I regularly attend, although two women are currently pregnant that teach catechism where my son attends PSR. This is the third pregnancy for both of them.
Oh yeah, the guy that runs PSR just had a baby yesterday! So I think Catholics are having some babies. But gone are the days of middle class Catholics having 6+ kids.

It's pretty difficult to have a baby when no one will have sex with you. Have you seen these broads?

Kids are expensive in good times. Now they’re a luxury item many cannot afford.

Our politicians keep trying to herd us into densely populated cities. People don't have babies in the cities.

Build more and affordable housing and this problem goes away
