Terrible law and it should be repealed.
It's actually a great law...even if it came from JBE.
Great move so LSU will now issue an RFP for outsourced IT Managed Services Company from out of state now instead of hiring people directly. Brilliant fricking law really intelligent because now you just fixed the problem 100%. LOL.

Do you know what an RFP is?

The law requires that unclassified state employees who are paid more than $100,000 per year provide proof to their employer within 30 days of hiring that they have a Louisiana driver's license and that any vehicle registered in their name be registered in Louisiana.
I don't see a problem with making sure state employees...you know...actually live in the state.

The entirety of my 37 years of existance. This university is a far cry from what it was when O’Keefe and Emmert were in charge. What a shite show we have, now!

Everyone is missing the big lesson in all of this. People will turn down 6 figure salaries if that salary requires them to go to a Louisiana DMV.

What are the odds of this not being some kind of major scandal?
All 4 of these people being from Illinois? Just smells like some kind of back door deal. There’s no way this admin comes out clean in this. LSU is ran like an absolute shite show

Yep. And this wasn't always the case. Time to clean house.

Or give up their voting privileges in Chicago.

The employees each claimed that complying with Louisiana law would have put them in a legal bind with the State of Illinois, where they are still legal residents and where their primary homes are still located.
The highest paid of the four, LSU Chief Technology Officer Andrea Ballinger, made $268,000 a year working at LSU, the audit says. Ballinger was given a $20,000 relocation stipend to assist with her move to Baton Rouge. Ballinger was hired from Illinois State University in 2017, where she was making $193,424 per year. Ballinger was recruited to Baton Rouge by her former colleague, LSU Vice President of Finance Dan Layzell.

If they were paid to move here and pocketed the money but never moved isn’t that fraud?

Big question. My assumption was the audit reviewed the detailed charges for each relocation but they may have been given a lump sum. I’m sure it cost them money to move items here and get 2nd residences.

Why do they need so many high-level IT guys?

Is it a coincidence that all 4 of these people just happen to be from Illinois? Does that not seem odd to anyone?
Posted on 3/22/19 at 6:01 pm to BHMTiger84
It says they established residence in BR in the article, I don’t get why they wouldn’t do it

So you take a job in Louisiana and then live in Chicago. Who is hiring these people? That is the people that need fired!
All starts @ the top
