A&M is a lot tougher to get into ... you have to have a higher GPA (3.65 vs 3.44) and SAT than you do at LSU to get in. Acceptance rates don't mean anything unless you know the academic level of the application pool........t many of the kids I talked about don't even apply to A&M or UT because they know there is not a chance in hell they get in.

Spot on. It's the same at UF as well. Plus, many applicants have to have a well rounded resume of extracurricular activities/organizations, civic involvement etc or special talents.
Regardless, the academic admission standards for athletes are adjusted at virtually every program using the "special talents" criteria. This is also true for the band or even cheerleading at some programs.
Louisiana probably loses some of its best talents to other public or private, out of state universities. Hopefully a new LSU head will get some funding restored to further a real flagship agenda. However it's a matter of concern that funding will be increased since politicians are more concerned with decreasing taxes than increasing funding in strategic ways.
I hope whoever replaces King will have political skills along with a clear vision and roadmap for the future.

Sources saying there's nothing to these rumors.

I have heard the same thing. Guess we'll see soon enough.

I doubt this highly. There’s an article from a couple day from business report selling his house to move into a UNIVERSITY OWNED house for LSU’s top administrator....don’t think they are firing someone that is moving into the LSU owned house.
