A buddy of mine was boiling crawfish for his daughter's engagement party on a Saturday afternoon when he found out. The news fricked that batch all up!

I'm very sorry you are going through this. The good news is, this is very treatable and success rates are high. A friend of mine was diagnosed and went to the Mayo clinic and took the most aggressive approach without any hesitation or wait-and-see. He did have surgery, and I think did a couple rounds of chemo on top of that. He has been 100% free for about ten years now. Yes, he has had some physical changes to adjust to, but everything "still works" down there, which is easily and understandably a big concern for the typical male. Not all people are the same, nor are all cases the same, so talk it over with your wife, think about what you want, talk to the doctor, and get a second or even third opinion. And don't be hesitant to talk to a counselor who can help you process all of your thoughts so you can make a clear decision based on facts and logic and not emotion and fear. Good luck to you, and hang in there.

Good luck friend. I’ll be sure and say a prayer for you

Going to urologist tomorrow to get my nuts checked. Something’s not right down there lately. Hoping it’s not cancer.

Diagnosed with prostate cancer last August - 54 years of age. My Urologist recommended surgery but stated that I should have a second opinion. Went to MD Anderson and received information on my options and surgery was recommended. I had a Gleason score of 7. I opted for the robotic surgery and went forward very quickly and I was blessed - cancer was very close to reaching my nerve root.
The pain in recovery was very limited and I just took the acetaminophen I was prescribed. I recovered from my bladder control issues very quickly. First PSA check-up after the surgery was non-detectable and I go back soon for my second follow-up.
Get all the information and recommendations and pray about what is best for you. Once you have clarity on that, move forward with it.
Prayers for successful treatment.

A buddy is going through that right now. What he learned lead him to surgery.
If radiation fails surgery is no longer an option as radiation turns the tumor too mushy to remove.

"The only sure thing is removal" . Every patient is different, but in educating myself and talking to many many men I've never read or heard from anyone that surgery is a sure thing. The most common number/s I've heard, and age is a factor, is with radiation the full recovery rate is in the low to mid 80 percentile, with surgery, 87 percentile as the high. I've heard over & over & over again, with prostate cancer, you'll die with it, not because of it. As an aside, I asked one of my radiation therapists how many of their patients, for all types of cancer, smoked. She didn't blink : 85% and up. Sit in that waiting room for 32 days , surrounded by a lot of very very sick people, seeing how they looked, hearing their stories re chemo,I say my prayers every nite that I never smoked. People say "frick cancer." I say, "double frick cigarettes".

Suprisingly, a coworker told me just yesterday that he has prostate cancer and is faced with the same decision. I’ve been thinking about it ever since. Unfortunately, most men will be faced with the exact same decision at some point in their lives unless they die of something else before their turn comes.
I have not yet decided what I would choose…but you will be in my prayers tonight.

Dude was just looking for some feedback. He’s nervous and would like to hear from people who have experience going through this. He’s not ditching his doctors advice, just asking how other guys dealt with their cancer, what treatments worked for them etc.
Not sure why that’s so wrong. I know people can be dicks on here but it’s fairly often that O-Ters show each other empathy and support when a poster is going through some tough shite. There has been some useful experience and advice provided in this thread.

Whenever my dad caught me lying belly-down in public view, he'd threaten to "come over and massage my 'prostrate.'"
That's all I got. Said a prayer, though.

Had mine removed May 2020. Dad has his removed in the early 90’s. One night in the hospital and one week with a catheter. All PSA’s where they should be since then. About 6 nighttime accidents, but none in months. No daytime accidents. When I travel I wear depends to sleep just in case.
And the best news… no pron bill in over a year. Chaturbate can kick rocks!
