Mustaine is all that matters there.

And I’d rather see Hetfield with random musician’s rather than the rest of Metallica without him. That goes for pretty much any band for me. As long as it’s the original singer, I’m good.

Toto is now jut Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams (and David Paich occasionally).

Asia is now just Geoff Downes and Carl Palmer.

Survivor is now just Frankie Sullivan.

Journey is now just Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain.

None of the original members of Quiet Riot remain though Rudy Sarzo has recently rejoined the band.

Only Greg Dulli and John Curly remain of The Afghan Whigs.

40% at 80 is pretty good. More amazing is that Keith is one of them. RIP Charlie.

The Guess Who. To me, that band is Cummings and Bachman. I think only the drummer remains, and I don't know his name.

Steve Howe tours and records as Yes. He didn’t join the group until the Yes Album- the third they recorded. None of the original members from the beginning ( or even the “classic” lineup) are in his current band.

Social Distortion with Mike Ness. But I've always felt it's been "his" band.

I’ve heard that Mick Jones doesn’t even contractually have to perform at every gig.

Chicago is pretty much a different band than the 70s except for a horn player or two.

True, but Ronnie Wood has been with the band now for almost 50 years so it's like he's an original member.

I saw Styx a few years ago and I'm not sure they had anyone that was original. No Dennis DeYoung, No Tommy Shaw and for that show, JY was out as well.

30 yrs ago an act calling itself The Del Vikings ("Come Go With Me", 1957) played a motel lounge in Jackson MS, not exactly a hotbed of doo wop. A curious booking - I don't know if any original members were involved
over 40 years ago I saw The Association (“Windy”, “Never My Love”, etc.) play a small club in Auburn

except it wasn’t really The Association, as i found out years later - original drummer Ted Bluechel Jr had leased the touring rights to a totally unrelated company, so the band I saw that night had zero relation to the originals

Taxi, 1978

(Alex speaks into phone)

ALEX: Hey Tony! How'd the fight go?... Oh you lost? That's too bad... How are things in Scranton, you having a good time?... You saw the Drifters? Wow... Was this the original Drifters?... Oh, just one cousin.

You don't think that Johnny Van Zant has a connection to the original band?

He has a connection as Ronnie's little brother, but he was never a member prior to joining as lead singer in 1987 for the Tribute Tour.

What I meant by connection to the original band is as a member sometime between the formation of the band in 1964 and the plane crash in 1977.
