Back in the 70s and early 80s, Kmart was freaking awesome, at least from the perspective kid. In the front they had a Deli made great sub sandwiches. They had an Ice-e machine, huge toy section that even had a model isle, and they even had a cafeteria in the back. And on top of all that… blue light specials that made every mom in the store go nuts trying to get over to it in time.

Hardly ever and if we did it was the Western Sizzlin’ or Shoney’s breakfast.

Rarely, maybe every couple of months? It was a big deal when we did-even if it was Burger Chef or pizza.

3-4 times a year. My parents had get togethers at their house with friends. They rarely went to restaurants.
Now, we go out to dinner about once a week

We would go to Shoneys or Brewbachers maybe once or twice a month growing up. Ralph and Kacoo’s once or twice a year

In the 80s we used to hit up that Po’ Folks in Kenner Brah. We also enjoyed the Mc Ds on Veterans with the outdoor play area.
My son is 10 and his favorite appetizer is $14 fried alligator from either the Chimes or Walk Ons.

My dad did take out on Saturdays and we’d go to a restaurant on Sundays. This was the 60s. Mom got a break on weekends which I think was fair.

Normally after church, but that didn't happen to often cause dad would buy a huge arse sirloin on saturday and marinate that bad all night to cook it medium rare. Took 30 minutes to chew that steak.

I used to go to Jaegers almost every Friday on Elysian Fields. But then, Mr. Allen was my next door neighbor and would always tell my Dad to come on over. Never paid for a thing. My Dad would feel bad about it but Mr. Allen would say, "If you feel that bad about it just pay the server what you would have paid me."

Probably more than most for the 70s. My mom couldn't cook for shite and she worked.
We definitely have cooked more with my wife and kids. We did pick up/go out a lot though.
Now that they are both out of the house, we eat at home a lot more

Other than the occasional McDonald's trip, the answer is never.

My parents went out fairly regularly. They left our asses at the house.
