Napier has the potential but Aranda has more experience at the FBS level. Aranda led the defense of the greatest college football team of all time so Im gonna side with Aranda here.

I like Aranda, but my preference would be Napier.

Said about every coach of a lower tier program that is successful. It doesn't necessarily translate.

Napier was offered the Auburn job this last off-season. He turned it down when they demanded he kept certain assistant coaches.

This is a fact. Napier agreed in principle with Auburn until AU said "just you Napier, not your entire staff." That's when the deal feel through.

If it does, they’ve screwed it up again.

They'll be calling for his head after his first loss. Especially with 3rd and Aranda alive and well.

I'd have to go with Napier. He has been a HC longer and has done an incredible job with ULL.

Going to the New Orleans Bowl every year is like LSU playing South Carolina

Aranda is also a mad scientist introvert type who didn't recruit basically at all. People just want to grab the exact opposite of what you're currently failing with.

He doesn't really need to be so long as he understands it, structures it and acts as a closer. Saban is the architect of Alabama's recruiting plan, but it's the assistants who are out there putting in the work. He is just bar none the best recruiting closer out there.

If Aranda can identify talent and structure a staff that will put in the legwork, I don't see how he wouldn't be successful recruiting.

Aranda between those two.

It is much harder to find a guy that can implement a defense that can control todays offenses than to find an offensive coordinator that can move the ball

We will get plenty of offensive guys that want to work for Aranda.

I’m a huge Amanda fan but Napier is the correct answer here.

Napier has turned down numerous Power 5 jobs two in the SEC that we know of. I think his cowling is very very high. I would lean to him from
Everything I’ve heard.

Napier is the guy! Tired of hearing they won’t hire a HC from the Sun Belt. That’s BS! They hired an OC who never called plays, so why not?

Napier has turned down big time schools already. He is ready! He has done it all!

This, we need someone who wants to build long term and knows how to do it. Napier is that guy and like you said he’s turned down plenty of upgraded positions which tells you he knows big programs will come calling when they’re open. Name brand hires are band aids, we need someone who’s committed to the college process of building something long term. His teams are built correctly, they control the line of scrimmage and his QBs out perform their talent level plus he’s surpassed recruiting expectations at UL. We’re not an NFL franchise, you can’t just hire a new HC every 3-5 years and expect to stay on par with the blue bloods. Would anybody have wanted Day or Kirby or Dabo before they had big time success? No because they weren’t name brand coaches and splash names aren’t what we need either.

Aranda. P5 experience and a solid 2nd season turnaround at a tough place to win with any consistency trumps low-tier G5 football any day. Look at the track record of “can’t miss” G5 guys over the last 5 years. That will tell you that NO G5 coach is can’t miss. P5 is just a completely different animal.

I actually think Napier has a real shot to beat those odds, but not only is Aranda less risky, he also knows our program inside and out. And he wouldn’t just be a continuation of Miles or O. I’m sure he will handle things in a more organized and process-oriented manner.
