I like solar eclipses because it forces the flat earthers to add something else to their increasingly complex model to explain what the elegant spinning spheres around spinning spheres model explains and predicts so well.

Settle down. All they're doing is shining the holographic projector at the sun hole for a bit.

I'm in the 97% coverage. Other than the glasses being sold in grocery stores, I can't tell any difference.
If HEB is out of corn pops 3 days before a 4 minute event, your problem is with Texans, not the media.

Au Contraire Mon Frère, our very own Liberator disproves your statement. He's doubled down on his stupidity.

Going to have a high end, multi camera set up on equatorial mounts to track the sun.
One of the cameras will be sending the video to a TV under a tent to let folks casually see.
And myself, family, and friends will be playing games, grilling food, and drinking beer at a campground near a lake.
Sounds like a miserable experience indeed, and I bet we’ll have more fun than you will all month.

Thankfully the place I had decided to go looks to be safe from clouds. It's only 75 minutes away and I'll have about 2 minutes of totality.
I was in 90% totality the last time (I've had this one on my calendar since then) and have a kick arse photo I still use for my Facebook profile at times. I'll snap a couple in totality on Monday but will spend most of those two minutes just taking it in. I'll be dead or too old to GAF when the next one rolls around in 20 years.

Maybe a more impressive sight was a giant wind ring that appeared in the desert sky overseas.
Awesome because it was unexpected.
Northern lights are something to behold too.

And it is going to be short affairs all the way up in Montana.
The one after that crosses Alaska.
That’s part of why OP sucks. Unless you are willing to travel on at least a continental (if not global) scale, this is a once in a life time event.
But being a logistics coordinator or some shite for a trucking company is actually making him work for a single day to either reschedule or reroute trucks so he just hates everyone involved.

That won't be much different than say... late afternoon then, will it? I honestly don't remember the last one.

Inbound copy/paste barrage of his bookmarks and bullshite

Yeah, if you aren’t in totality it really doesn’t matter.
At 97% it might start to look a little dim and suns rays will feel a lot cooler but that’s it.

more dusky I think. the one in 2017 was 94ish? maybe? i'm not sure either.
a group of my friends decided today they want to go to Sikeston to go to Lamberts, the dispensary, and then check it out.
i told them unless they are in line at Lamberts at 7am, they aren't getting in.

Home Throwed rolls and you can (or used to could) get Lamb Fries there, if you were so inclined. I wasn't.

the shadows of everything will still look trippy. i could drive between 75-100 miles to be in totality, but it isn't worth fighting the traffic to me. i can just sit by the pool with a cold beer and watch 97% of it.

Yes, this rare celestial happening being reported on is how we discovered the mainstream press sucks. Bravo.

You really needed more proof?

Right? I'm 50s and have seen eclipses but never 100%. Many here get to walk to the backyard and look up for 4 minutes. I mean, Kige may see his second. What's not to love.

Lunar halo. You can see it anywhere, it isn't rare. You can also see a similar halo around the sun.

They are. They also aren't rare. They're better at some times than others, but they aren't rare.
Compared to those two, an eclipse is exceptionally rare.
