This is a really, really, really big part of it

I saw a recent report estimating the average Gen Zer spends 9 hours per day looking at screens. Imagine how much development you would’ve given up in your teenage years if you spent that long transfixed on curated content. They simply don’t know what it means to be an adult, because in the years that they were supposed to be paying attention and learning how to navigate social situations, they were instead surfing insta for the next viral trend

I’m getting to the point where I find it more sad than frustrating… we failed to prepare these kids for adulthood

Have you tried telling them what is expected of them, job related?

despite everyone around them working their asses off while they do not.

Young people don't tend to follow what everyone else is doing, so stop expecting this.

What motivates these people?

Again, have you tried asking them?

But have we really tried to win one, or did we just perpetuate them so the MIC could get rich?

This stems from how absurd schools have gotten about punishing students for being curious, reading ahead, showing initiative, brainstorming alternative solutions, or asking questions.

Yeah, all that is racist.

Another bashing younger generation thread. Of course older folks will say the younger ones are lazy, entitled, dumb. I’m a gen x and I didn’t get my shite together till I was 34. I was lazy and dumb till then. But life finds a away for you to straighten up. These young kids have all the time in the world to make adjustments. And If you’re old, don’t get too worked up over this because your time is limited. Just be content with life.

Mental health, for real. I don’t know what classifies Gen Z by birth year.

Anyone I’ve worked with that has an age range of 23-30, is a raging weirdo.

Tummy ache? Need 3 days off. Headache..same. Need 2 days off to realign and meet with my shrink.

These are all real reasons I’ve been asked for time off. I could continue..

They sometimes seem afraid of interacting with other people and issues

Keep in mind that these kids have been raised in an environment where everything is considered a "micro-aggression" and anything they say can cause offense, which is the worst possible thing to have to bear.

other times they act like they don't give a shite.

This is the only way they can cope with the issues brought on by the aforementioned fear of doing something offensive. If there's no way to act without offending someone, then the only recourse they have in order to be able to function at all is to pretend that they just don't care.

This isn't entirely their fault. It's the way our devolving, morally bankrupt society has forced them to acclimate in order to survive. And yes, it sucks for all of us.

Problem is they think they have a right to argue with you about their job description…then after completing one small task/project, they think they deserve a raise or promotion. Congrats, you did your job FINALLY! Also congrats, your reward is you get to keep your job!

Some of the questions these little shits ask, I would’ve never even attended to ask my parents without an arse kicking, much less my boss.

Yes, its not the kids fault, its their parents who didnt hold them accountable or help them understand opportunity.

Being raised on social media + lockdowns during a crucial stage of establishing one’s social identity really has left many zoomers extremely stunted socially.

Even though I think every single person who was for lockdowns and school closures for Covid should be put in concentration camps and never seen again, others say that's too "harsh" Covid and school lockdowns were an enormous negative impact on young men and women. j

Saying that, I see a lot of good workers and good people that are young 18-22, where I work at in the fire service.
