And what qualifications did Modly even have to be in this position? He flew a helicopter.

So did the captain.

Moldy was right in firing CAPT Crozier. He was absolutely wrong in talking down about him to his former crew.

What on earth was he thinking? It’s like he didn’t see how much that crew loved their captain. Oh well, dick in, dick out.

I assume you’re talking about the captain because Modly is a civilian.

Nonsense. This problem was created by the former skipper.

Enlisted singing high praise to a fired Captain, on his walk of shame, is totally out of line. That falls at the feet of the Command Master Chief. It is also indicative of larger problems regarding boat discipline.

I agree with this, but it is hard to reestablish discipline among the troops, following behind a lax commanding officer. There are going to be a lot of problems going forward.

When I was listening to the recording of it, and heard that sailor say "what the frick!" out loud, while the Sec. Of The Navy was speaking, that said it all to me.

Thanks for the useless point. I'll correct for your benefit: Can you imagine China firing a political military leader because he said something mean about a guy who was fired for good reason?

More nonsense. There's nothing wrong with the enlisted crew showing a little positivity to their former captain, just removed. It says nothing about good order and discipline or the effectiveness of the CMC either. Leave the blame with Crozier where it belongs.

If he remains on active duty, he will probably end up with a desk job in the Pentagon. If he's lucky.

The next Captain of that ship, is going to have a rough time. There are serious problems on that boat.

I'm on this boat. The only problem on this ship is the coronovirus.

We had been on deployment for 3 months with no liberty incidents. thats the sign of a disciplined ship.

Here is the reality. The response to our situation was slow. Our medical team was quickly overwhelmed (like most healthcare places) and we started losing personnel key to the daily running of the ship fast. The CO did what he did because we were at a breaking point with no help on the horizon. In fact, us officers were briefed on the likelihood we would have to step in food preparation.

You might like A/SECNAV speech. The crew didn't. Essentially amounted to a guy who fly across the criticize the guy who tried to help them and criticize the crew for respecting him.

Political policies aside, I see how you may sit in the comfort of your home and think there are problems here, but I can assure you that you are wrong.

This is not 1940s and today’s navy isn’t Patton’s army. Both were wrong and both are paying the price.

At the time of writing his letter to anyone other than his immediate boss, this had to be quite clear to him.

The man had earned a command at sea. Of a carrier. That's total responsibility for a lot of people and some expensive equipment to put it mildly.

He blew the whistle because of his superiors leaving his people in harm's way unnecessarily, in his judgment- the judgment that had been endorsed by giving him command of this ship. And it got results. He knew what the price of something that'd make his superiors look bad when he did it, and he did it anyway.

You can see why his crew would love him for that, and these idiots in here calling it a discipline problem are out of their minds.
