His bad move was going that far away at this time. Otherwise he was spot on.

I'm saying that this cancel culture BS infecting our military will greatly weaken us. So, I'm pointing out that even our potential adversary recognizes that military leaders sometimes have to point out hard truths.

And our Navy "experts" probably chipped paint for 4 years because nobody wanted them in their shop.

LOL, I'm not down...I understand how people's political leanings compel them to side with certain choices and interpretations. However, the military is an apolitical organization and I'm merely sharing what is the truth on the ground here and not through the lens of whatever cable news they watch or print they read.

So one guy fires a guy and then in turn he gets fired?

This is how the French military acted during the Revolution.

We'll cut off your head and then cut off the head of the guy who wanted your head cut off. And so on and so forth.

How much interaction do you have with the enlisted crew members?

THe only reason "lawmakers" (yawn) - more like media wanted him fired is because he fired the guy who leaked stuff to the press...

And anytime somebody does that they're a liberal hero.

And the media wanted payback for their liberal hero.

This has less to do with cancel culture and more to do with an acting SECNAV making a controversial situation even worse. You can’t grasp the significance of him flying 3000 miles to shite on a fired leader whom the sailors and shipmen would obviously follow into battle without hesitation. You just don’t do that, 2020 or 1920.

The next Captain of that ship, is going to have a rough time. There are serious problems on that boat.

I'm 24 years Navy CWO4, still in the Reserves, still being Augmented.

Guy's, we all need to step back, take a breath, and say there was a lot of frick up to go around. The Captain and the Secretary, both didn't exactly shine in this incident, but the cream always floats to the top. And we all know the Navy is the cream. I will agree that the Navy of 24 years ago, is not the Navy of today. Times change, tech changes, and people as a society change. This will all get secured, and we'll be stronger for it.

The SECNAV made the right call. It's a shame he's resigning.

The captain betrayed his obligations to OPSEC and coming from the captain of a 14 billion dollar aircraft carrier responsible for 5,000 men and women aboard, that should never ever be taken lightly.

I'm Air Wing, so everyday all day. They make the squadron go. In fact, i'm still on this ship now awaiting to be quarantined because we had most of our enlisted go first.

Yes, this is the issue. He could have been completely right in firing the captain. That’s not what got him let go. He got his nose out of joint because the men and women on that ship applauded the Captain when he left. He thought that was a slight to him so he went halfway around the world to rub their noses in it. You don’t do that as the regional manager of Circle K much less as the Sec of the Navy. Do people really not see the firing is not what got him fired. He showed his arse after the fact to rub it in. That is dumb and horrible judgement.

The captain may not have personally leaked the letter himself but CCing about 40 people onto the email had the same effect and with such a hot button topic like that, it was always going to get out.

That's what got him releived of command.

Exactly what was OPSEC? Nothing in his letter was classified and our ship location was a known fact.

Instead of people being pissed at the CO's letter for going to the media, how about some anger is directed at the Washington leadership for having a 14 billion dollar aircraft carrier responsible for 5,000 men and women aboard sit idle with no assistance for a week after the first positive test - which compelled the CO's letter

You didn't ask me, but I'll give you my opinion. His remarks about the Captain were totally out of line. He's no longer the acting SECNAV as a result.

What part of the truth about the capt didn't people like? Apparently the truth will get you fired.

He gave the three options for why the idiot could have done what he did. All three warrant being relieved of command.

Only two will ever be mentioned by the media.
