Almost everyone I know, that has a CCL, has A team of attorneys At the ready. That Texas gun attorney program is relatively cheap.

What assistance is needed? What does this mean? That you need police, ambulance etc?

You would say, for example, "I need an ambulance at the corner of Main and Central. I'm the victim of a crime. I'm white and am wearing a blue T-shirt with an eagle on the front, blue jeans and glasses."

Adorable.

They aren't going to need a warrant after they're told that you shot someone and fled the scene.

quote:

Add to that, if you do shoot someone, and then leave, the odds in this country of you getting away with it, they skyrocket. The police are terrible at solving those types of crimes, and if I got killed waiting on the cops, my homicide would probably never be solved either.

That's cool, but we're talking about self-defense here, not murder.

quote:

Not going to explain how I know this, but it's a fricking fact.

Yeah, let's go ahead and take your word for it.

1984 something something.

I'm not the one who thinks it's a good idea to go home and have lunch after a self-defense encounter.

Currently, it seems likely that I am.

Pretty much word for word what I was advised to do via my CCP class.

quote:

Do not make any statements to the dispatcher about what happened (e.g., “I’ve just shot an intruder”).

You do not have to stay on the line with the 911 dispatcher (they’ll ask you to do so).

This is where most people mess up.

Tell them you've been a victim of a crime and nothing more then hang up before you hang yourself.

Lawyers can turn innocent comments or even voice tones into literally Hitler.

Unfortunately, it's not something that I read in a book. I learned it first hand, the real life cry and puke your guts up way, and I will die without seeing justice done. It's already been a lifetime.

As I already said before, the chances are almost zero, for me needing to worry about something like that, and even less for me to be at fault, I still wouldn't sit around and wait for the police. My limited experience in that kind of matter, tells me that I should leave. It worked for many other people.

Cool. You still gave horribly ignorant advice and deserved to be called out for it, regardless of your experiences.

limited experience

And this is what I hope most people who read your advice take away from all of this.

So, you've been around a lot of murders in the U.S.? I'm telling you right now, I'm glad that I don't know more about it. What I do know, is more than enough. Knowing how lousy the cops are at solving those things, is almost as bad.
Since you have so much knowledge on the subject, maybe you can explain why they have reruns on the real life murder solving TV shows. They sure as hell aint running out of murders. Maybe they just come up short on the solving part.

You don't know, when you are away from your house. This all started out as a discussion about self defense shooting, and I said "go home" right then. You don't know how witnesses will spin things, or whatever. At least maybe you can see your family in person one last time, and if you were in the right, the worst charge will be leaving the scene of a crime. If they charge you with murder, just because you left the scene, you were already fricked.

Also - Don't put yourself in unnecessary or avoidable situations. Don't go looking for trouble.

I do know. Do you not know the difference between self-defense and murder?

That isn't what you said.

You said if anyone tries to disarm you, shoot them.

Then, after significant tapdancing, you decided you'd just go home and wait for a warrant.

Hopefully, if you shot an intruder, then you'll need to ask for the coroner.

For law enforcement the statistics indicate that half of those that are involved in a fatal shooting never return to their job due to emotional distress, even though they acted correctly. For most normal people your opinion is not reality.

well.
1st question would.... "emotional distress" from....what?

from ridding the word of a bed guy?

or....maybe that stress is from having to "protect" themselves from whatever bureaucracy challenges that come calling?

a quickie lit search pulls up this oldie..

quote:

The stress from the post shooting trauma is sometimes overwhelmingas the officer feels betrayed by the department he/she serves. In addition,he/she faces administrative and legal proceedings which can well result inhis being disciplined, terminated, sued, or even criminally charged.

Some individuals will have no reaction, while others will suffer a number of after-effects.

then again maybe a few of us are actually simply sociopaths...
¯\_(?)_/¯

but i still stand behind my statement.. for MosT (ie those not pussified or gone funny passive cuck)
..fill feel absolutely *nothing*, after using a firearm to defend yourself or your loved ones (from bad guys)

I wouldn't have thought this would have needed explaining, but if you actually have to shoot someone in self defense, anybody that's around is probably not your friend, and they sure as hell aren't the police. I would not give up my gun. I would just be gone.

Now you are just being dishonest, there was 1 post between the "shoot them" comment and the one about waiting at home. That post was about weasels making laws, so that you always need more weasels, and really had nothing to do with the first comment, except that maybe one thing the advice of a lawyer will insure, is that you are going to need a lawyer. He aint cutting himself out, ever. Is that what you call tapdancing? Making separate unrelated posts?

If you are in a dangerous situation then certainly call 911 and tell them what you are doing and why. Nobody is saying that you have to stay in an obvious threatening situation. Law enforcement would understand -- but as soon as they met up with you they would be taking your weapon.

I don't know where you're hanging out, but more likely, the people around you will be neutral. Well, they were neutral, until you shot someone and drove off.

Wrong. It was 5-6 posts in before you started talking about going home after a shooting.

Well...yes. I understand what tap dancing means in this context.
