Umbrella policies generally do not cover self defense.

Something that I have not seen addressed in this thread.

If a person does have to take another's life in self-defense, do not, I repeat, do not stare at the criminal after they are neutralized.
Try not to even look at the threat after you are 100% sure they have been neutralized.

If all possible, lightly place a sheet over the deceased criminal so the image does not become burned into your memory.

This is especially true in a home invasion if your little ones and other loved ones are around.

The experience itself will be traumatic enough but for them to see a criminal with their head blown off or their guts splattered all over the wall.

Some of the internet tough guys 'think' it will not bother them and in some cases, its true.

But there are thousands of cases where police officers, with many years on the force, had to quit because they could never get over the fact they took another life, even if it was 100% justified.

You can watch interviews of combat veterans who still remember the faces and places of those whom they killed in war.

These are WWII , Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf Wars vets, who after 70-80 years, still remember the faces and the horrors they saw.

It never leaves them.

I’m a tad confused about the 9 downvotes in the OP.
Nothing was political.
Nothing was religious.
No one group was singled out.
The information was for all.

In our house, we’re currently preparing for the aftermath.
Hoping all y’all are doing the same—though the after effects of personal defense are important year-round.
